Director, Tax, Retirement & Estate Planning

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Tax, Retirement & Estate Planning based in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tax and wealth planning professional to help financial advisors deliver sophisticated planning solutions that support long-term client success. Working closely with sales teams and industry professionals, you will provide expert guidance on tax, retirement, and estate planning while contributing to educational initiatives and business development strategies. This highly collaborative role combines technical expertise with relationship management, thought leadership, and client-facing presentations. You'll influence advisor success through strategic consultations, market insights, and innovative planning resources while staying at the forefront of legislative and industry developments. The position offers a flexible work environment with opportunities to make a measurable impact across a national advisor network.

Accountabilities
  • Provide expert guidance on tax, retirement, and estate planning strategies to support financial advisors and internal sales teams.
  • Partner with wealth distribution professionals to strengthen advisor relationships and identify opportunities that support business growth.
  • Deliver seminars, workshops, presentations, and educational sessions on advanced planning concepts and legislative developments.
  • Research complex client cases and develop customized planning solutions, illustrations, and value-added resources.
  • Create educational articles, planning materials, sales tools, and reference content aligned with current tax and regulatory changes.
  • Monitor industry trends, taxation updates, and estate planning legislation to ensure resources remain accurate and relevant.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new planning initiatives, enhance advisor support, and contribute to product positioning.
  • Represent the organization as a subject matter expert through professional engagement, thought leadership, and industry activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial services specializing in tax, retirement, and estate planning.
  • Advanced expertise in Canadian personal and corporate taxation, retirement planning, and estate planning concepts.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly.
  • Proven ability to influence, educate, and build trusted relationships with financial advisors and business partners.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Professional designation such as CA, LLB, or FCIA strongly preferred.
  • CFP designation, TEP designation, CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program, Master of Taxation, or LL.M. in Tax considered strong assets.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian investment industry and tax legislation required.
  • Bilingual English/French and familiarity with Canadian estate law considered advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
