What You Will Do
- Assist, support and perform many of the duties associated with the role of a facility supervisor for daily operations, programs and special events.
- Providing effective business operations throughout the department, especially at service locations (i.e. Equipment Issue and Reception Desk areas).
- Responsibility for preparing financial reports related to day to day operations of the department and assisting with long-term financial planning of the department.
- Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff (full-time and student employees) within our service locations to provide a high quality level of service to our patrons.
- Ability to utilize and manage all departmental computer software, hardware, and network systems.
- Act in a facility supervisory role, when needed, to support daily operations and special events.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
-Bachelors degree.
-A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Masters Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
AND
-Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Technology, Student Personnel Services, and Recreation or closely related
-Valid CPR/AED from a national recognized authority or ability obtain this credential within three (3) months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
-2+ years of management, and/or recreational supervisory experience in an educational setting
-Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Technology, Student Personnel Services, and Recreation or closely related
The Coordinator should have an understanding of the Student Affairs philosophy, the mission of Southern Illinois University and how it relates to the provision of recreation and leisure services to the university community. The position must have skills in the following areas: oral and written skills, interpersonal communication, program planning, student training, mentoring, education, and development. The Coordinator must have the ability to work effectively with students and the University entire community.
The position also requires that the individual be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required to maintain adequate contact with students, special programs or projects. Coordinator must be able to work with a diverse student and user population in a high-paced environment.
