Job Description

Senior Financial Analyst, Strategic Finance

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst, Strategic Finance based in the United States.

This is an opportunity to become an embedded finance partner supporting a key business function and helping leaders make informed, high-impact decisions.
You will own the financial models, forecasts, budgets, and analysis that shape headcount, spending, investment, and growth decisions.
The role combines strategic financial planning with hands-on business partnering and a strong focus on actionable insights.
You will work directly with functional leaders, developing a deep understanding of their operating models and business drivers.
A key part of the role is establishing a recurring monthly business review rhythm that connects financial performance with business outcomes.
You will also support scenario planning, business cases, vendor reviews, and other strategic questions as they arise.
This is a high-visibility opportunity within a lean finance team where your analysis will directly inform leadership decisions and executive-level priorities.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the operating and capacity model for an assigned functional area, including analysis of how headcount and spending scale with underlying business drivers.
  • Manage financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans for assigned functions, ensuring assumptions remain accurate and aligned with business priorities.
  • Develop clear narratives explaining financial performance, forecast changes, and significant budget-to-actual variances.
  • Lead a recurring monthly business review with functional leaders, analyzing what happened, why it happened, and what the results mean for the remainder of the year.
  • Review vendor spend and operating expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, increase leverage, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Provide decision support on strategic and operational questions, including business cases, scenario analyses, investment decisions, and other ad hoc priorities.
  • Partner closely with business leaders to understand their operating models, financial drivers, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into concise insights and recommendations that leaders can act on.
  • Continuously improve financial planning and analysis processes by automating repeatable work and leveraging modern analytical tools and technologies.
  • Take ownership of additional finance initiatives and responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Requirements:

  • Approximately 2–5 years of experience in FP&A, business finance, management consulting, investment banking, or a comparable analytical role; equivalent experience and demonstrated capability will also be considered.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the analytical judgment to identify inconsistencies, challenge assumptions, and determine when an analysis may not be reliable.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business drivers and operating models into meaningful financial analysis and forecasts.
  • Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to work directly with functional leaders and confidently discuss financial performance, trade-offs, and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems, structure them effectively, and deliver solutions with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a practical, business-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and operate effectively as an embedded finance business partner.
  • A proactive working style focused on automating repetitive processes, improving efficiency, and finding better ways to deliver financial insights.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, business intelligence platforms, SQL, financial planning systems, or similar technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work with meaningful overlap during Pacific Time business hours.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for team or company offsites.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation based on location, experience, market conditions, knowledge, and skills.
  • Base salary range of $110,000–$140,000 per year for eligible roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, and New York, plus an equity grant.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Flexible remote work arrangements for eligible employees in supported U.S. states.
  • Professional growth and advancement opportunities within a high-impact finance function.
  • Opportunity to work closely with functional leaders and contribute directly to strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborative, curious, and supportive working environment.
  • Occasional team and company onsite events.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
