P/C Staff Underwriting Specialist in Lansing, Michigan at Michigan Farm Bureau

To train property/casualty (P/C) underwriters and Farm Bureau Insurance agents in designated lines of insurance. To support the continuing professional development of underwriters. To design, implement and review underwriting audit processes. To regularly conduct underwriting audits. To facilitate process improvement within the Underwriting Department. To monitor and review company risk appetite, rules and underwriting policies. To perform research and analysis of industry trends and participate in relevant industry associations.

Create and maintain training curriculum and lead training sessions for underwriters on all lines of business.

Design, implement and review an underwriting audit program. Perform audits of underwriting files to ensure compliance with Farm Bureau Insurance underwriting guidelines and present conclusions and recommendations.

Evaluate current underwriting processes and facilitate process-improvement work as part of a team.

Required:
Bachelors degree required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum five years experience as a property/casualty underwriter required.
API or AU designation required. CPCU certification required, or must be completed within 24 months of hire.
