Aircraft Mechanic I – Electrician in Fort Worth, Texas at Adams Communication & Engineering Technology, Inc.

The Position:

We are seeking an entry-to-mid-level Aircraft Mechanic I – Electrician to support organizational-level (O-Level) electrical and instrument systems maintenance for the F/A-18 variants assigned to NAS JRB Fort Worth.

Operating under the direct supervision of senior mechanics and shop leads, you will assist with routing, testing, modifying, and repairing electrical wiring, power distribution components, and instrument systems. This position offers a direct track to advance your aviation career while supporting critical Navy and Marine Corps tactical flight operations.

Responsibilities:

Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and modifications of basic electrical and instrument components on the F/A-18, including power distribution, lighting, flight instruments, and wiring harnesses under close supervision.
• Perform basic continuity, resistance, and voltage testing using multi-meters, wire circuit analyzers, and specialized electrical test equipment.
• Assist with minor wire repairs, terminal crimping, connector replacements, and soldering following exact technical blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Remove and replace faulty electrical relays, switches, control panels, and assemblies as directed by senior technicians.

Documentation & Shop Safety

• Learn to interpret fundamental electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs).
• Log daily maintenance actions, inspections, and replacement parts accurately within military data tracking networks (NALCOMIS/OOMA).
• Adhere strictly to the squadron’s Tool Control Program (TCP) by completing mandatory tool box inventories before and after every shift.
• Enforce Foreign Object Damage (FOD) mitigation rules and follow safety precautions regarding high-voltage systems and electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive items.

Flight Line Support

• Participate in general flight line duties, including aircraft washing, ground power unit (NC-10) hookups, and launch/recovery operations.
• Support the shop supervisor in keeping electrical work centers, test benches, and hangar bay areas immaculate and free of safety hazards.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of military or commercial aircraft electrical/avionics maintenance experience, ideally working with military tactical jets or similar aviation platforms.
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent commercial/military aviation maintenance frameworks.
• Tools: Basic familiarity with wire stripping tools, terminal crimpers, multi-meters, torque wrenches, and basic aircraft hand tools.
• Security Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the airfield and military installation.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of military aviation electrician technical school training (e.g., USN/USMC AE "A" school or equivalent) is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience maintaining F/A-18 Legacy or Super Hornet electrical/instrument systems.
• Familiarity with fiber optic handling and specialized coaxial cable repairs.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely lift and carry parts or electrical test boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Physical capability to bend, kneel, crawl, stand for prolonged periods, and maneuver in tight spaces like electronic equipment bays or cockpits.
• Color vision capability required to safely identify and distinguish color-coded electrical wiring and components.
• Resilience to work in an outdoor flight line environment subjected to extreme North Texas seasonal weather and high noise levels.
