WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

A hotel runs on more than great service — it runs on accurate numbers, sound financial controls, and a Controller who knows how to read the story behind the data. As our Controller, you’ll be the financial backbone of the property: the person the General Manager and ownership rely on for the numbers that drive decisions. From monthly financials and budget oversight to payroll, audits, and tax compliance, you’ll own the full accounting function and lead a small team that supports it. If you’re a hospitality finance professional who takes pride in clean books, strong controls, and being a trusted voice in the leadership conversation, this is your role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and provide explanations for budget and forecast variances.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance to identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve profitability, and reduce costs.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and correction of posting discrepancies.
  • Support monthly forecasting and annual budgeting by providing historical financial data and actual results.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash handling, credit and collections, and treasury functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Manage risk, insurance requirements, certificates of insurance, and reporting of potential liability or property claims.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with retention requirements.
  • Support tax reporting, reconcile tax liability accounts, and maintain required business licenses and permits.
  • Recruit, lead, coach, and develop Finance team members, including performance management and professional development.
  • Partner with hotel and corporate leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strategic financial judgment that ties results back to each hotel’s business plan.
  • Clear written and verbal communication of financial concepts to General Managers, department heads, and corporate leadership.
  • Leadership that develops Finance staff and builds bench strength across properties.
  • Ability to manage competing close, forecast, and audit deadlines across multiple hotels.
  • Sound judgment and discretion handling confidential financial, payroll, and personnel information.

SKILLS & ABILITIES YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including hotel operations knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, USALI, and hotel departmental profit and loss structures.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, plus working proficiency in Outlook and Word.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and working with large data sets.

PREFERRED

  • Hotel or hospitality accounting experience.
  • Prior experience in a centralized accounting environment supporting multiple properties.
  • Experience with any of the following systems: PEP, Full System PMS, M3 Accounting System, Birchstreet, Micros POS, Paylocity.

SCHEDULE & HOURS

This position is full-time, with schedules that may vary based on business need. Flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, may be required. Specific shift details will be discussed during the interview process.
