Isuzu North America Corporation is investing approximately $280 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Greenville County, South Carolina.

This 1-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art production plant, located on more than 200 acres, will feature a flexible manufacturing line capable of producing both internal combustion and electric vehicles.

The Building Engineer serves as a primary technical resource for Facilities Operations and is responsible for the operation, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of building systems and facility assets. The position combines hands-on maintenance and repair with technical planning, asset management, contractor oversight, and facility improvement support.

The position supports Facilities-managed buildings, offices, property, grounds, and related systems and does not perform maintenance on production equipment or manufacturing-process systems assigned to Production Maintenance. The Building Engineer coordinates with Production Maintenance and other plant functions where systems or responsibilities interface.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, and minor installation work on Facilities-managed building systems and equipment
• Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls, plumbing, lighting and appropriate electrical components, doors and hardware, access-control components, automated gates, and other building and property systems
• Monitor building automation systems and investigate alarms, comfort issues, abnormal conditions, and recurring equipment problems
• Conduct inspections of mechanical rooms, rooftops, office areas, exterior areas, fencing, gates, lighting, drainage, and other Facilities-managed assets
• Respond to facility work orders and emergencies and complete repairs when within the position’s capabilities and applicable requirements
• Develop and execute preventive-maintenance activities and schedules and maintain CMMS/work-order records, equipment histories, manuals, warranties, drawings, and asset information
• Identify recurring failures, deferred maintenance, and lifecycle concerns and recommend repair or replacement actions
• Maintain appropriate tools, spare parts, filters, materials, and maintenance supplies
• Provide technical oversight of contractors supporting HVAC, controls, electrical, plumbing, elevators, roofing, doors, access control, automated gates, fencing, and other facility systems
• Assist with scopes of work, technical recommendations, verification of completed contractor work, and identification of deficiencies
• Coordinate with Production Maintenance, EHS, Engineering, IT, Security, and other functions where facility systems or responsibilities interface
• Support building renovations, facility improvements, equipment replacements, site-infrastructure work, commissioning, punch-list activities, and construction turnover
• Support facility inspections, testing, permits, and corrective actions within the Facilities scope
• Provide technical assessments and recommendations regarding equipment condition, maintenance strategy, capital replacements, and facility improvements
• Perform other duties as assigned to support company and department goals

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship, or formal training in HVAC, electrical, building systems, industrial maintenance, or related technical discipline preferred
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible commercial, institutional, or industrial building operations and maintenance experience, including at least 3 years independently troubleshooting and repairing multiple building systems
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC/building controls, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
• Experience with preventive-maintenance programs, CMMS/work-order systems, and outside service contractors
• Experience in a large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, campus, or similarly complex facility preferred
• Strong practical knowledge of commercial building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems
• Ability to independently diagnose building-system problems using drawings, manuals, meters, BAS information, and field observations
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings
• Sound judgment regarding when work can be performed in-house versus when licensed or specialized contractors are required
• Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to provide technical guidance to other personnel without formal supervisory responsibility
• Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and internal departments
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and facility-related technology systems
