Job Description

Description:

The ranch is calling. This isn't just a summer job, it's a mission.

Spend your summer on horseback at Timber-lee's Saddle Horn Ranch, guiding trail rides, teaching horsemanship, and caring for the animals that make it all work. You'll share something you love with campers who have never been near a horse before.

If you're looking for something that actually matters, not just a paycheck, this is it.

What You'll Do
  • Lead trail rides and teach horsemanship classes
  • Assist with horse care, feeding, and ranch upkeep
  • Ensure safety and fun in all ranch activities
  • Support horse camps and guest programming
  • Tackle work projects with a positive attitude
  • Assist with camper arrival and departure on weekends
  • Participate in camp activities planned by the Recreation and Ministry Departments, primarily after dinner hours
  • Flex into other roles and temporary assignments as needed, including Cabin Leader
What You Get
  • $275/week + housing and meals included
  • Hands-on experience with horse care, instruction, and ranch operations
  • Live on-site with a built-in community
  • Teaching and safety leadership experience that stands out on a resume
  • A summer that impacts lives, including your own
Important Role Details
  • This is a live-in, residential role
  • Requires active participation in a Christian ministry environment
  • May include temporary reassignment to other roles based on camp needs
  • Ranch work continues in all weather and includes early morning and weekend animal care
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

  • A professing Christian with a personal faith
  • Proficient riding ability and solid working knowledge of horses
  • Comfortable handling horses and other farm animals
  • Interest in teaching and working with youth
  • Willingness to be fully engaged in a live-in summer camp environment

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry saddles up to 35 pounds and hay bales up to 50 pounds
  • Able to climb 30-foot haystacks to throw down bales when feeding stock
  • Able to work outdoors in hot and humid conditions for extended periods
Summer Schedule
  • Staff Training: June 1 – June 12
  • Camp Sessions: June 13 – August 7
Why This Role Matters

You'll spend the summer responsible for animals that depend on you and beginners who are nervous to get in the saddle. That builds patience, presence, and the ability to stay calm when something goes sideways. You'll also be the one who gets a kid from terrified to grinning in the space of one trail ride. That's a summer worth having.

Perfect for animal lovers, equestrians, or anyone who wants to share their passion for horses in a Christ-centered environment.

Additional Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Employment is contingent on background and reference checks
