Newsroom Editor

This role offers the opportunity to support a fast-paced global communications environment by ensuring important news content is delivered accurately and efficiently.
You will play a key role in preparing, reviewing, and distributing press releases that help organizations connect with their audiences.
The position combines editorial precision, customer interaction, and operational coordination.
Working remotely as part of a collaborative newsroom team, you will manage time-sensitive content while maintaining high quality standards.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and an interest in media operations.
You will contribute directly to a trusted information distribution process used by organizations to share critical announcements worldwide.

Accountabilities:

The Newsroom Editor is responsible for preparing and transmitting press releases accurately while supporting smooth daily newsroom operations. This role requires strong editorial judgment, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Format, edit, proofread, and process press releases with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Review client instructions, apply appropriate distribution coding, and recommend relevant distribution options when needed.
  • Communicate with clients to resolve content issues, clarify requests, and prevent potential errors before publication.
  • Assess incoming content for authenticity and escalate potentially problematic submissions according to internal procedures.
  • Monitor incoming orders to ensure timely processing and successful completion.
  • Verify online transmissions and confirm content has been distributed correctly.
  • Support newsroom teams with workload overflow and assist with shift opening, closing, and transition responsibilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, services, workflows, and distribution procedures.
  • Respond to client questions by phone and guide users through submission processes and available services.
  • Assist with account-related requests, including membership information and approved account setup.
  • Collaborate with sales, support, and internal teams to resolve issues and improve client experience.
  • Communicate technical concerns clearly to appropriate support teams.
  • Maintain activity logs, prepare operational reports, and complete administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented communicator who can balance accuracy, efficiency, and customer service in a high-volume publishing environment. They should be comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative remote team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent proofreading abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workflows, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills when handling sensitive or time-critical content.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional communication style.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Basic technical proficiency and computer literacy, including familiarity with standard business applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based tools.
  • Ability to learn and navigate digital publishing and content management systems.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong ownership of responsibilities.
  • Professional phone presence and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedules based on operational needs.
