The Managing Editor will oversee content production for strategic partner programs, ensuring accuracy, quality, and audience relevance.
Working across editorial, client services, sales, and creative teams, this position transforms business objectives into impactful content experiences.
The role combines editorial expertise, project leadership, medical communications knowledge, and operational ownership.
The successful candidate will help establish scalable workflows, maintain strong editorial standards, and support the growth of a dynamic content function.

- Own the full editorial production process for client-related and partner-supported content, from concept development and outlines through editing, packaging, and final delivery.
- Create, edit, and oversee high-quality medical and professional content that meets accuracy, clarity, strategic, and audience engagement standards.
- Translate partner objectives and business goals into valuable content concepts that serve both clients and professional audiences.
- Collaborate closely with client services teams to understand project goals, timelines, expectations, and deliverables while ensuring successful execution.
- Participate in client meetings, including brainstorms, project kickoffs, check-ins, and content discussions, representing the editorial function with confidence and professionalism.
- Manage editorial assignments by determining project ownership, delegating work across internal contributors and freelance networks, and ensuring consistent quality.
- Source, brief, and manage freelance writers, contractors, and subject matter experts while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Maintain medical content integrity by ensuring factual accuracy, appropriate language, adherence to AMA style, and responsible communication practices.
- Review content for unsupported claims, promotional language, overstatement, or conflicts between sponsored objectives and editorial standards.
- Guide content through medical, legal, and regulatory review processes when required.
- Develop repeatable workflows, templates, standards, and processes that enable the content function to scale effectively.
- Support future team growth by contributing to hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and leadership of additional content team members.
- Approximately 8 years of experience in editorial, medical communications, healthcare publishing, content marketing, agency environments, or related fields.
- Strong background creating, editing, or managing medical, healthcare, life sciences, or professional content.
- Experience producing client-facing, sponsored, branded, custom, or content marketing materials.
- Familiarity with AMA style and a strong commitment to accuracy, clarity, editorial quality, and attention to detail.
- Excellent editorial judgment with the ability to identify unsupported claims, promotional risks, and inappropriate sponsor influence.
- Experience collaborating directly with clients and representing editorial teams in external conversations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience assigning, managing, and editing work from freelance writers, contractors, or external contributors.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across editorial, commercial, and operational teams.
- Ability to operate successfully in an entrepreneurial environment where processes, workflows, and standards are continuously being developed.
- Experience with medical-legal review processes and regulated healthcare topics is preferred.
- Experience building content operations, workflows, templates, and quality frameworks for growing teams is preferred.
- Background in ophthalmology, optometry, eyecare, or healthcare education is welcome but not required.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, technology-driven healthcare media or education environment.
- Competitive salary range of USD $75,000 to USD $85,000 annually, depending on experience.
