Job Description
Position Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the direction, provision, and quality of patient care services provided and shall work collaboratively with the Director in the management of the daily operations of the department.
Provides clinical support to Nurse Residents/Registered Nurses during orientation and
transition from novice to experienced RN.
Facilitates and supports as they develop critical thinking skills, and provides educational experiences and mentoring that promote competent nursing practice and quality patient care.
Provides clinical support to PCAs, PCTs, Safety Sitters, and Unit Coordinators.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Oversight and responsibility for staffing and operations
2. Human Resources Resource Management
3. Outcomes/Quality
4. Ensuring that nursing services are provided to patients as specified in each patient’s
nursing plan of care.
5. Facilitate and coordinate clinical teaching/orientation to reflect knowledge of the content area.
6. Establish an environment that promotes learning and works well with all HMC staff regarding teaching situations.
7. Patient Advocate and Patient Experience.
8. Maintain patient safety.
9. Regulatory Compliance.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
3 years of acute care experience in Critical Care and/or Medical/Surgical Nursing
Preferred:
2-3 years of leadership experience
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Current NJ RN licensure and American Heart Association CPR certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Preferred:
Certification in specialty
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Must pass annual clinical competency-based program and mandated in-service education. Unit-specific skills may include but are not limited to IV therapy, basic arrhythmia interpretation, vent training, critical
care, conscious sedation, Bi-Pap/CPAP, and EndTidal CO2.
Skills will be determined by a challenge exam and/or skill performance or by completion of a Staff
Development course. NIH Stroke certification
