This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Commercial Events and Operations – Philips IGTD based in United States.
This senior leadership role will shape and execute a data-driven, customer-first commercial events strategy for a large healthcare technology business.
You will oversee a complex portfolio spanning 80+ internal meetings, approximately 200 medical education engagements, and more than 225 tradeshows annually.
The role combines strategic planning, operational excellence, financial management, and measurable commercial impact.
You will lead and develop a team of 11 events professionals while partnering closely with marketing, sales, medical education, finance, and senior leadership.
With responsibility for approximately $4.5M in direct variable spend and influence over an additional $7M in indirect costs, the position offers significant executive visibility.
You will establish stronger investment frameworks, reporting, KPIs, and processes that demonstrate how events contribute to business growth.
This is a remote, field-oriented position requiring travel to priority events and strong collaboration across business units.
- Own the commercial events strategy and portfolio, setting the strategic direction and managing day-to-day execution across internal meetings, medical education programs, tradeshows, and other high-impact engagements.
- Develop an investment and measurement framework that connects event spending to commercial outcomes, establishes meaningful KPIs, and enables clear evaluation of event performance.
- Manage complex budgets and financial operations, overseeing approximately $4.5M in direct variable spending and influencing an additional $7M in indirect costs.
- Lead, coach, and develop an 11-person events team, fostering accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and operational excellence.
- Partner cross-functionally with senior leadership, marketing, sales, market leadership, medical education, finance, and Key Opinion Leader and Society Engagement teams to align event strategy with business priorities.
- Strengthen portfolio-wide reporting and operational processes, creating greater visibility into investments, outcomes, and opportunities for optimization.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders, using market insights, performance data, and event expertise to guide commercial decisions.
- Support and attend priority events, ensuring successful execution and maintaining strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- 10+ years of experience in event strategy, commercial marketing, marketing operations, or a closely related field, including at least 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing individual event budgets as well as complex, portfolio-level functional budgets, with strong financial and business acumen.
- Proven ability to measure and demonstrate the commercial impact of events and tradeshows through relevant KPIs, reporting, and data-driven analysis.
- Experience developing or transforming an events strategy and operating model, ideally across a large and complex organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Strong operational expertise across commercial events, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and programs simultaneously.
- Excellent executive presence, communication, and influencing skills, with the confidence to make strategic recommendations to senior leaders.
- High emotional intelligence and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple business units and functions.
- Familiarity with event management technologies and AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- Ability to work remotely in a field-oriented environment and travel to key events as required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Base salary: $164,000–$261,600 in many U.S. states, with ranges varying by geographic location; higher or differentiated ranges apply in certain states.
