Job Description

Are you the driven, compassionate, and unstoppable Family Law Attorney we're looking for? At Halligan LLC, we believe family law goes beyond filings and court dates; it's about guiding people through their toughest times to help them achieve their best outcomes. We don't just handle cases—we advocate, strategize, and transform lives. We need a high-octane, experienced attorney with over five years in family law who is ready to challenge the status quo and make a real impact in our legal community.

Your mission is to lead, not just meet a billable quota. You'll manage complex domestic relations matters from start to finish, offering sophisticated legal strategy with the human touch clients love. Halligan LLC offers a vibrant, collaborative culture where hard work meets fun, with competitive compensation and a bonus structure that rewards your efforts. If you're ready to be more than just a name on a door and make a difference, we'd love to hear from you. Join us and be part of a team where your ideas matter and your impact is felt.

Compensation:

$130,000 - $200,000+ yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
  • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process
  • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
  • Lead the Charge: Take primary responsibility for a diverse caseload, including high-net-worth divorce, complex custody battles, and intricate asset division.
  • Be the Strategist: Develop creative, winning litigation and settlement strategies that others might miss.
  • Mentor & Grow: Act as a go-to resource for associates and help shape the firm's culture and processes.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations, ensuring their rights and interests are protected.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including prenuptial agreements, divorce petitions, and parenting plans.
  • Provide clear, compassionate guidance to clients navigating sensitive family law matters, fostering trust and understanding.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external experts to build strong cases and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain detailed case files and documentation, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Advocate for clients in high-stress situations, using negotiation and conflict resolution skills to reach amicable solutions when possible.

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
  • Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
  • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
  • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
  • At least 5 years of experience in family law, with a focus on divorce, child custody, and high asset complex cases. You know the statutes like the back of your hand.
  • Courtroom Presence. You view the courtroom as your second home and have the trial record to prove it.
  • Mindset. You are proactive, not reactive. You look for solutions before problems arise.
  • Communication. You can explain complex legal jargon to a stressed client with empathy and clarity.
  • Ability to draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and marital settlement agreements with precision.
  • Proven track record of representing clients in court proceedings, demonstrating strong advocacy skills.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with paralegals and senior partners to ensure efficient case management.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain and update client files accurately and promptly.
  • Experience in handling the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
  • Ability to remain composed and negotiate effectively in high-stress, emotionally charged situations involving sensitive legal issues.
