The Paralegal position will work under the supervision of the SVP General Counsel to address and manage legal issues for the Company and its affiliates relating to the financing, ownership, management, and development of multi-family properties in multiple U.S. jurisdictions, with an emphasis on real estate transactions (acquisitions and dispositions) and risk, dispute, litigation, and matter management. The Paralegal will assist with complex real estate agreements, construction and other commercial contracts, LLC operating agreements, as well as commercial leases and financing documents. They will assist with due diligence matters (including title and survey review and analysis), legal entity formation and management, and document and contract management. This position also works on compliance matters, and assisting with general legal support for Avanti business units and compliance programs.
What You’ll Do…
- Assist the SVP General Counsel with the review and analysis of real estate contracts, title documents, financing documents, and other commercial contracts and instruments.
- Assist with due diligence, legal entity formation, and legal entity management.
- Prepare organizational charts and maintain and monitor transaction deadlines and task checklists.
- Conduct legal research on various compliance matters and other legal issues at the direction of the SVP General Counsel.
- Assist with litigation and risk management, and assist with matter management and document organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed…
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Paralegal certification required
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal with a focus on real estate transactions, litigation management, or related practice areas required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Legal research skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Analytical skills and the ability to make sound judgment.
- Technology and software knowledge.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- High integrity, confidentiality, emotional intelligence, and exemplary ethics.
- Eagerness to learn and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Pass criminal background screening prior to employment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and up-to-date vehicle insurance OR reliable transportation is required.
