Job Description
Position Summary
The Inventory Control Clerk maintains accurate inventory records for the Stores department. The role performs daily transaction entry, investigates and resolves quantity and bin-location discrepancies, and supports the Stores Supervisor in keeping parts available and correctly accounted for. Accuracy, consistency, and timely record-keeping are the core expectations of the position.
Note: In addition to the functions described below, the employee is expected to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform daily data entry of work orders, receivers, material transfer tickets, and inventory adjustments.
· Research and resolve parts quantity discrepancies and bin-location problems, escalating unresolved issues to the Stores Supervisor.
· Conduct cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventories; document and report variances.
· Receive, verify, and record incoming material against purchase orders and packing documentation.
· Maintain accurate bin locations, part numbers, and unit-of-measure data in the inventory system.
· Generate and distribute routine inventory and transaction reports as requested.
· Maintain an organized, clean, and safe stores area in compliance with company safety policies.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Typing speed of at least 20 wpm with a high degree of accuracy.
· Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and unit conversion.
· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
· One year of experience in data entry, recordkeeping, or a clerical role requiring sustained accuracy.
· Strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy in repetitive transaction work.
· Ability to organize and prioritize daily workload with minimal supervision.
· Clear written and verbal communication with production, purchasing, and supervisory staff.
· Methodical approach to investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Preferred
· Coursework or certification in inventory control, supply chain, or logistics.
· Familiarity with DataWorks or a comparable ERP/MRP inventory system.
· Two or more years in a stores, warehouse, or manufacturing inventory environment.
· Prior experience performing cycle counts and reconciling inventory variances.
· Comfort working with reports, spreadsheets, and basic data analysis.
· Forklift or material-handling equipment certification.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
· Work is performed in a stores and manufacturing environment; exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
· Extended periods of computer and keyboard use.
· Personal protective equipment required in designated areas.
