This leadership role sits at the core of global patient safety operations, overseeing the delivery of high-quality pharmacovigilance and safety services across multiple regions, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. You will guide cross-functional teams responsible for adverse event processing, regulatory reporting, and aggregate safety deliverables, ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership in a highly regulated, science-driven environment. You will play a key part in shaping safety systems, improving processes, and ensuring scalability across a diverse portfolio of projects. Acting as both an operational leader and client-facing expert, you will support business growth while safeguarding regulatory integrity. This is a high-impact position suited to a leader experienced in drug safety who thrives in complex, global healthcare environments.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will oversee regional patient safety operations, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency across pharmacovigilance activities while leading and developing teams.

  • Lead and manage patient safety services operations across assigned regions, ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards.
  • Supervise and develop direct and indirect reports, including performance management, training, and career development planning.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of adverse events to clients, regulatory authorities, ethics committees, and investigators.
  • Provide input into project planning, risk assessment, budget management, and operational contingency planning.
  • Collaborate with medical, clinical, regulatory, QA, and data management teams to ensure aligned safety processes.
  • Support business development activities, including client presentations, proposals, and cost estimations.
  • Oversee quality systems, operational efficiency, and adherence to project timelines and financial targets.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced drug safety leader with strong regulatory knowledge and a proven track record in pharmacovigilance operations and team management.

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, nursing, pharmacy, or related field (RN, BS/BA, MS/MA, or PharmD with relevant experience).
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in drug safety/pharmacovigilance and 4+ years in supervisory or line management roles.
  • Strong background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and global regulatory safety reporting requirements.
  • Experience in adverse event processing, risk management, and safety reporting systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a global, fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Fluency in English (additional local language skills are an asset).
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from CAD 140,000 to 180,000 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package aligned with market standards and internal equity.
  • Opportunities for career growth in a global, science-driven organization.
  • Exposure to international projects across multiple regions and therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional work environment with strong regulatory focus.
  • Professional development opportunities and leadership growth pathways.
  • Travel opportunities (domestic and international, as required by the role).
