Job Description
Description:
The Lead Patch Technician is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Patch Department by ensuring fiberglass repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to World Cat quality standards. This position provides hands-on leadership, trains and supports team members, coordinates workflow, and performs fiberglass repair using proper grinding, sanding, filling, painting, and buffing techniques.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily activities of the Patch Department to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery goals.
- Train, coach, and support Patch Team Members while promoting accountability and teamwork.
- Assign and monitor work to ensure repairs are completed according to production schedules and quality standards.
- Perform fiberglass repairs using proper grinding, sanding, filling, painting, and buffing techniques.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for patch and rework processes.
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure defects are corrected before moving to the next production stage.
- Communicate quality, safety,equipment, and production concerns to the Production Supervisor.
- Work with Quality and Production teams to resolve recurring defects and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Auto Body Repair or a related field preferred.
- Previous fiberglass repair, marine manufacturing, auto body, or composite repair experience required.
- Previous leadership or team lead experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fiberglass repair techniques, including grinding, sanding, filling, painting, and buffing.
- Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely use patching tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work in a manufacturing environment.
