GSPH-Epidemiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26005585)
Supports clinical research projects by coordinating projects and drug trials, assessing patients' qualifications, and facilitating protocols. Collects and reviews lab results, patient data, and lab specimens; administers medications and protocol-specific treatments. Performs general laboratory duties and specialized nursing duties, trains new staff, and ensures regulatory adherence.
Essential Functions
The Health Studies Research Center (HSRC), Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Research Nurse Coordinator to work on several research projects within HSRC focusing on healthy aging and prevention of disability and mobility loss. Projects will include observational studies and clinical trials, and will involve all aspects of research including recruitment, screening, clinical measures, safety monitoring, data management and outcomes investigation, staff training and supervision. The Research Nurse Coordinator will also serve as a Medical Safety Officer. Responsibilities may include the following:
Train, certify and supervise study staff and student research assistants on the study protocol, conduct periodic refresher training sessions as needed, and conduct performance evaluations on study staff
Assist PI and Project Director with IRB submissions, grant management, NIH reporting and other regulatory and administrative activities
Conduct clinical measurements (anthropometric measures, blood pressure, heart rate, vision, physical performance and cognitive function testing, etc.) and administer study-related questionnaires.
Work with the study data manager and the main study coordinating center to ensure data collection, entry and editing is accurate and complete, and all required data elements are transferred to the study coordinating center
Coordinate and monitor the study visit schedule (including scheduling participants)
Work with recruitment coordinator to ensure goals are met
Perform telephone and in-person eligibility screening
Conduct telephone visit reminder calls and follow-up assessments
Attend to study participant incidents that may arise during study visits and communicating these to the study MDs.
Address study alerts, adverse events, and incidental findings as per protocol
Compile study endpoint documentation to support participant-reported health events.
Perform phlebotomy, processing and shipment of biological samples as needed
Participate in study working groups and virtual and in-person meetings as requested
