Job Summary
A postdoctoral research fellowship is available in a highly productive laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases using genomic, epigenomic, and single-cell approaches. The position offers outstanding training opportunities in translational immunology, functional genomics, and bioinformatics within a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
The applicant will lead functional genomics, epigenomics, and cellular immunology studies aimed at defining the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying autoimmune disease. The successful candidate will use complementary in vitro and ex vivo approaches to investigate the functional consequences of genetic risk variants, epigenetic dysregulation, and pathogenic immune cell populations previously identified by our laboratory in systemic lupus erythematosus, Behçet's disease, Takayasu arteritis, and related immune-mediated diseases. Projects integrate cutting-edge genomic technologies, including single-cell transcriptomic, epigenomic, and immune repertoire analyses, with mechanistic molecular and cellular biology approaches to identify disease-driving pathways and therapeutic targets.
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas: functional genomics, epigenomics, bioinformatics, single-cell sequencing data analysis, flow cytometry and immune cell phenotyping, primary immune cell isolation and culture, CRISPR-based genome editing, molecular biology, or immunology. Experience analyzing large-scale genomic or epigenomic datasets is highly desirable. Candidates with a strong publication record, demonstrated scientific creativity, and a commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research will be given preference.
Required Qualifications
Successful candidates must hold a PhD in molecular biology, genetics, or immunology. Applicants must be within 1-2 years from the time they obtained their PhD, and must demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing an independent career in science.
