The Senior Manager, Fraud Operations will lead the development and execution of fraud operations across card products, application processes, and a travel marketplace.
This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building a high-performing fraud operations function as the business scales.
You will lead fraud analysts, establish investigation standards, and create the playbooks, processes, and classification frameworks needed for consistent decision-making.
The role combines hands-on fraud expertise with strategic partnership across Product, Engineering, Risk, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and Member Support.
You will turn fraud patterns and operational intelligence into clear recommendations that influence risk policy, financial outcomes, and fraud prevention strategies.
With significant ownership and autonomy, you will help design detection controls, improve investigative capabilities, and strengthen the organization’s overall risk infrastructure.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced fraud leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building programs and teams from the ground up.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of Fraud Analysts, establishing clear investigation standards, documentation requirements, performance expectations, and professional development practices.
- Build and maintain fraud classification and labeling infrastructure, including standardized taxonomies and case documentation that support accurate reporting and Data Science model training.
- Develop investigation playbooks and standard operating procedures covering card fraud, application fraud, Early Fraud Warning alerts, coordinated fraud rings, and other emerging fraud patterns.
- Oversee fraud operations across card products, application processes, and the travel marketplace, ensuring consistent and effective investigation practices.
- Design and improve fraud detection controls in partnership with Product and Engineering, including application-stage signals and post-approval monitoring capabilities.
- Produce regular fraud intelligence reporting for senior Risk and Finance leadership, highlighting emerging patterns, financial impact, and recommended policy actions.
- Analyze fraud trends and operational data to identify emerging threats, quantify P&L impact, and translate findings into actionable risk strategies.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance teams on the escalation of coordinated fraud events and preparation of relevant regulatory documentation.
- Collaborate with Credit Underwriting to identify and incorporate application fraud signals into decision-making processes.
- Work closely with Member Support on high-severity card fraud cases, ensuring appropriate investigation, escalation, and resolution.
- Continuously evaluate fraud operations, controls, and workflows to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, accuracy, and risk reduction.
- Establish scalable fraud operations practices that can evolve alongside a rapidly growing, multi-product business.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in fraud operations, financial crime, risk management, or a closely related field.
- Significant hands-on experience in card fraud operations, particularly across credit, prepaid, or gift card products; experience limited solely to ACH or marketplace fraud is not sufficient.
- Proven people leadership experience managing fraud investigators, analysts, or comparable operational risk teams.
- Strong practical experience with SEON or an equivalent fraud detection and prevention platform.
- Experience using Salesforce or comparable case management systems to manage investigations and operational workflows.
- Familiarity with BSA/AML requirements and financial crime prevention practices.
- Understanding of KYB outputs and the ability to interpret business verification information to identify potential fraud signals.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify patterns, assess risk, and develop effective responses to emerging fraud threats.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate complex fraud patterns, financial impact, and recommended actions clearly to senior leadership.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate independently and establish new processes in an evolving environment.
- CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) certification strongly preferred.
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification is a plus.
- Experience in fintech, travel, payments, or multi-product marketplace environments is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to build teams, processes, and operational frameworks in environments where existing playbooks may be limited.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $95,370–$132,000 USD.
- Competitive total compensation that may include equity and/or variable pay, depending on the role and individual circumstances.
- Compensation determined based on factors including experience, expertise, location, internal considerations, and market data.

- Opportunity to build and lead a foundational fraud operations function with significant organizational impact.
- Exposure to complex challenges spanning payments, travel, fraud prevention, risk management, and financial crime.
