Building/Linen Attendant-Courier in GOUVERNEUR, New York at Rochester Regional Health

SUMMARY

Travel a scheduled daily route to pick up or deliver mail, supplies and Lab specimens to the hospital facilities. Ensure all documents are handled safely, and vehicles are secure at all times. Maintain sanitary and attractive surroundings, provide excellent customer service, comply with hospital safety guidelines and uphold OSHA and MDS guidelines/practices. Responsible for maintaining linen levels and transporting linen throughout the facility. Work in all areas of facility and clinics as required.

ATTRIBUTES

• High School Diploma or equivalent, previous janitor and/or industrial cleaning experience preferred but not required. Experience in hospital linen management is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• All EVS staff must cross train in all areas of the organization and for all shifts.
• Removal and disposal of trash and waste product, inclusive of bio-hazardous materials.
• Clean patient rooms, restrooms, offices and hospital common areas within established departmental standards, inclusive of off-site locations.
• Maintain floors, strip wax floors; shampoo carpets according to scheduled maintenance standards.
• Maintain walkways to ensure safe access.
• Respond to visitor, patient and staff requests for assistance.
• Pick up and deliver of mail and materials in allotted time frame.
• Operation and preventive maintenance of hospital vehicle.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA and SDS practices.
• Perform visual inspections of facility and note gauge readings in log.
• Keep designated scheduled time frame.
• High focus on customer and patient satisfaction.
• Work as part of a team towards accomplishing departmental goals.
• Provide transportation of materials to various off-site locations. (Courier Services)
• Follows proper safety measure protocol when transporting clean linen to unit.
• Follows proper safety measure protocol when filling linen closets.
• Transports incoming clean linens to storage area.
• Transports dirty linen to proper storage area.
• Delivers extra linen as needed to units.
• Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Drive - These positions involve frequent driving across varied routes, with regular loading and unloading of materials and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. or more. Employees must safely enter and exit vehicles, push or pull carts, and navigate ramps, stairs, and uneven surfaces. Strong visual and auditory acuity are essential for safe vehicle operation and task performance. Emotional and cognitive requirements include sustained attention, managing time-sensitive deliveries, and responding to schedule changes. Environmental exposures include inclement weather, roadway hazards, and loading dock conditions.

PAY RANGE: $18.10 - $25.72

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
