Monday through Friday, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), Weekends - Every Third Weekend
Scheduled Hours:
Per Diem, 2nd Shift 3PM-11:30PM, every 3rd weekend after summer to provide weekend coverage

4 - Mixed Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Flex maybe required to work and travel to other locations and campuses per the need of the department.

Performs a variety of routine procedures with the collection, receiving, triaging and/or processing of laboratory requisitions and specimens involving technical and data entry duties.
Major Responsibilities:
- Receives specimens from couriers and checks manifests to verify appropriate count.
- Logs and assigns accession numbers to specimens and requisitions received.
- Sorts and triages requisitions and specimens to appropriate workstation; completes and files manifests.
- Answers telephones and communicates pertinent information. Send specimens and carriers to various sites using pneumatic tube or dumbwaiter. Performs minor troubleshooting of pneumatic tube through computer.
- Processes specimens including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, and labeling.
- Registers short form outreach specimens received from clients.
- Performs a variety of routine duties to assist in laboratory processes, such as: Preparing reagents and stains, preparing slides and specimens, drawing blood, autoclaving and washing of glass wear, disposal of biohazardous waste, collecting occasional specimens from outreach patients at Biotech I.
- Performs assigned duties to assist in ensuring, an adequate inventory of supplies for assigned area. Monitors inventory levels and stores equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
- Maintains accurate records of processes performed, using manual and computer-based systems.
- Logs in error book specimens that are received without proper tubes or requisitions.
- Complies with all laboratory quality, health and safety policies, regulations and requirements and with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.

- High School graduate; familiarity with data entry and/or word processor and medical terminology.
