Activity Assistant in JOHNSON CITY, Kansas at Stanton County Hospital

POSITION SUMMARY

The Activity Assistant assists with planning, organizing, and implementing recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents and patients. This position promotes resident engagement, emotional well-being, and quality of life while maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment.

RESPONSIBILTIES

· Assist with the planning, preparation, and implementation of daily activities, special events, and community outings.

· Encourage resident participation in individual and group activities.

· Provide one-on-one visits and social interaction with residents.

· Assist residents with games, crafts, puzzles, exercise programs, and other recreational activities.

· Assist with decorating resident areas, bulletin boards, and seasonal displays.

· Help maintain the monthly activity calendar and activity documentation.

· Observe residents for changes in mood, behavior, or physical condition and report concerns to nursing staff or the Activities Director.

· Assist with transportation and escorting residents to activities within and outside the facility as needed.

· Assist with feeding residents when appropriate and directed.

· Support special events including holiday celebrations, National Nursing Home Week, and community programs.

· Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.

· Follow all facility safety procedures, including fire and disaster plans.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity environment.

· Promote positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or special events.

· Perform other duties as assigned.
