Job Description
Somewhere in your career, you wrote something that landed. A tangled, complicated idea that you turned into a sentence so clear the reader thought it had always been obvious. Someone forwarded it. Maybe it moved a deal, maybe it changed how a team talked about a problem. It worked not because the topic was easy, but because you found the one thing that mattered and cut everything else.
That's the kind of writer we're looking for.
What We Do
Every school district in America runs on service. Parents need answers, teachers need support, IT teams need systems that work. Most districts hold it together with disconnected tools and overwhelmed staff.
K12 Insight builds the platform that fixes that: a unified service platform purpose-built for K-12 public education, bringing together customer service, help desk ticketing, call center operations, AI chat, and IT asset management. When a district runs on Onflo, staff spend less time firefighting and more time serving students.
We are building this category, and content is how we lead it. That is the work you would own.
The RoleYou will own the content that drives demand across every channel: case studies, email nurture, long-form articles, sales enablement, and ABM campaigns. The emphasis is precision over volume. Fewer pieces, each one sharper, each one written to make a busy school administrator stop and keep reading.
This is content writing built for an AI era. You will use AI tools as a real part of your craft to draft, test, and revise faster, then apply the judgment AI cannot: finding the one idea that matters, getting the facts right, and making the work sound like a person wrote it.
What you will own:
- Customer stories and case studies start to finish, including the interviews
- Email nurture sequences in HubSpot, written to distinct buyer personas
- Blog and long-form content built on real search intent and optimized to surface in both traditional search and AI answer engines
- Webinar scripts, sales one-pagers, battle cards, and first-draft presentations
- ABM content tailored to specific districts and roles
- The brand voice, held consistent across all of it
We will be direct with you, because the right person will appreciate it.
Onflo is a small, fast-moving team. Briefs are not always tidy. Priorities shift. You will not have a content team to hide inside or a senior editor to clean up behind you. You will work closely with the CEO, client success, product, and sales, and you will often have to track down the source or the data yourself.
The people who do their best work here are resourceful and self-directed. They read a room and a reader. They have the judgment to know what a piece needs, a fast turn or a careful one. They self-edit without ego, cutting their best lines the moment those lines stop working. They take direct feedback without flinching, and they care about getting the facts right, especially when the reader is a public school district and the trust bar is high. They are genuinely curious about AI and about how a district actually works.
If you need a detailed brief, a steady queue, and sign-off on every angle before you start, this probably is not your role. If you would rather be handed a hard problem and trusted to figure it out, keep reading.
What We're Looking For- 5 to 7 years of content writing experience, most of it with AI genuinely in your workflow
- A portfolio that shows range: long and short form, technical and human, with at least one piece that earned traction or drove pipeline
- Experience writing for a B2B SaaS company
- Real fluency with AI writing tools: which model for which task, how to prompt, and how to edit output so it does not read like AI
- Strong instincts for audience: you write differently for an IT director than for a chief business officer, and you know why
- Strong SEO fundamentals, with familiarity with how content surfaces in AI search a plus
- K-12, education, or public-sector writing experience is a plus, not a requirement
- Able to work hybrid, three days a week in our Herndon, VA office
The right person reading this already knows if it is them. If that is you, apply and send 3 to 5 pieces you are proud of, with a short note on why this role fits.
Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000 base / year + annual discretionary corporate bonus plan.
