Essential Job Duties:
1. This job description serves as a tool for the performance evaluation and the criteria listed below will be used to evaluate performance.
• Works with the Service Line Director to establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists the Service Line Director in hiring, evaluating and disciplining staff.
• Advises Service Line Director of problems and concerns in the department.
• Works on special assigned projects, compiles data and prepares reports.
• Supervises assigned personnel. Assists in training, orientation, and performance evaluation.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient accounts status.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Service Line Director.
• Processes changes to and approves staff time cards for payroll purposes.
• Suggests process improvement for the department.
2. Provides guidance for staff in meeting the physical and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Displays and maintains behavior promoting customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and staff.
• Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and dependability in relationships with co-workers and clinic staff.
• Monitors and evaluates the quality of patient care.
• Makes rounds routinely in the clinic and infusion space throughout the day.
3. Responsible for department coordination in consultation with the Service Line Director.
• Suggests strategies and programs that are consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, policies, goals and objectives.
• Provides input for yearly budget needs.
• Completes monthly time schedules, determining appropriate staffing levels.
• Functions as liaison among Staff, Providers, and Service Line Director.
• Assists in meeting the needs of new staff by serving as a resource person.
• Coordinates in-service programs as it deals with the Department.
• Assists with evaluation of equipment, supplies, and software applications.
4. Demonstrates knowledge of Union Health’s policies and procedures
• Uses appropriate reference material such as PolicyStat
• Assists in the implementation of new policies and procedures.
• Reviews and assists in revision of existing policies and procedures in consultation with the Service Line Director
5. Responsible for personal growth and development.
• Maintains CPR, ACLS skills as required by policy.
• Keeps informed of current trends in nursing by attending appropriate educational programs.
• Meets self-learning needs through self-study, in-service education, and continuing education.
• Maintains current license in clinical skills.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of four years’ recent clinical experience in a medical office setting with at least one year's experience in medical office supervision.2. Ability to manage multiple tasks to completion within the designated time.
3. Understands the scheduling process from beginning to end with knowledge to resolve all scheduling issues.
4. Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
5. Interpersonal skills to work and deal with other departments and employees.
6. Ability to use general office equipment. Familiar with other software applications used in a medical office setting.
7. Writing ability necessary to include medical record documentation and other necessary communications.
8. Able to work under stress related to multiple patient care demands occurring simultaneously as well as the demands associated with management responsibilities.
9. Flexible to meet the demands of the department.
License/Certification:
- BLS certification
- IN RN license
