Job Overview:
Weston Herzog LLP is seeking experienced, litigation-focused Associate Attorneys who thrive in a fast-paced defense environment and are confident managing active litigation caseloads.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience litigating cases from inception through resolution, including conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, drafting motions, attending hearings, and managing client communications.
This role is best suited for attorneys who are comfortable meeting billable hour expectations and independently handling litigation responsibilities with minimal supervision.

- Premises liability defense
- Auto defense litigation
- Workers’ compensation defense
- Insurance defense litigation
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation & Case Management- Manage all phases of litigation from initial case assessment through resolution
- Conduct written discovery and review opposing counsel discovery responses
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, meet-and-confer correspondence, and other litigation documents
- Take and defend depositions, including plaintiffs, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives
- Conduct legal research and prepare written case analyses
- Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, hearings, and trial
- Attend court appearances and communicate developments to clients
- Collaborate with partners and legal staff to ensure effective case strategy and management
- Maintain proactive and professional communication with clients
- Provide timely updates regarding litigation strategy, discovery, and case developments
- Maintain organized and accurate case files and billing records
- Maintain a minimum of 150 billable hours per month
- Target annual billable requirement of 1,800+ hours
- Accurately record and submit billable time daily
- Effectively manage workload and deadlines in a high-volume litigation environment
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar
- Strong litigation experience in insurance defense or related defense litigation
- Experience conducting discovery and handling depositions
- Experience defending depositions preferred
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage litigation files and deadlines
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in personal injury defense, premises liability, auto defense, or workers’ compensation defense
- Trial preparation and courtroom experience
- Familiarity with Clio, iManage and/or Forms Workflow software is a plus
Employment Details:
- Hybrid schedule: 2 remote days per week / 3 in-office days

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
- Signing bonus up to $15,000
