POSITION SUMMARY:
The Direct Assistance Coordinator leads the regional direct assistance program, providing essential services to individuals and families in need, including but not limited to, emergency food, financial support, holiday assistance, and burial aid. This role ensures participants receive timely, effective support while promoting their economic stability, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being. The Coordinator also strengthens community partnerships and drives innovative solutions to address barriers to basic needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & IMPACT:

1. Food Pantry & Resource Distribution:

  • Coordinate weekly food pantry operations, donation collection, and distribution, ensuring participants have consistent access to nutritious food.
  • Utilize, maintain and oversee Pantry Soft software for participant choice.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and CMIS data to track service outcomes and program impact.

2. Participant Support & Coordination:

  • Conduct intake and assessments to determine eligibility for emergency financial and burial assistance, ensuring equitable and timely support.
  • Provide information, referrals, advocacy, and follow-up services to help participants overcome barriers and achieve greater stability.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and CMIS data to track service outcomes and program impact.

3. Program & Holiday Assistance Management:

  • Plan and execute holiday assistance programs to ensure families in need are supported.
  • Collaborate with parishes and community partners to expand reach and improve service delivery.

4. Community Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools, parishes, and community organizations in partnership with Regional Directors to strengthen program impact.

  • Complete monthly reports by set due dates to measure program outcomes and inform strategic planning.
  • Identify and implement creative strategies to address service gaps and enhance participant well-being.
  • Stay current on trends, research, and community resources to continuously improve services.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to procedural guides and department manuals for position-specific processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Undergraduate degree preferred. Seven years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of an undergraduate degree.

2. Must have intermediate computer and technology skills.

3. Skills required to: participate in program planning and organization; work and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, service participants, and the public; promote Agency programs and provide public relations; participate in peer review; prepare correspondence, records and reports; and, transport participants to perform the essential functions of the position (as needed and directed).

4. Position requires fluency in the English language (reading, writing and speaking). Additional language fluency requirements may vary according to regional office needs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Responsibilities of the Direct Assistance Coordinator involve travel and work beyond the regularly scheduled workday.
