About This Position
Jail Services Coordinator Catawba Valley Healthcare | Full-Time | Burke, Catawba & Lincoln Counties
Position Overview Part-Time 32 hour work week
Catawba Valley Healthcare (CVH) is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Jail Services Coordinator to lead and oversee its comprehensive suite of jail diversion and in-custody behavioral health/substance use programs across Burke, Catawba, and Lincoln counties. This is a management role that sits at the intersection of behavioral health, criminal justice, and community reintegration — requiring someone who can build strong relationships with justice system partners, supervise program staff, and ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery across multiple county detention facilities.
The Jail Services Coordinator serves as CVH's primary point of contact for justice system stakeholders, including sheriffs' offices, detention facility administrators, district attorneys, and judges. This individual will oversee daily operations across all program areas, maintain compliance and documentation standards, and work to continuously improve outcomes for individuals involved in the justice system who are living with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Programs Supervised
The Jail Services Coordinator is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and quality of the following CVH programs:
Post Sentencing Diversion — Collaborating with district attorneys, judges, and judicial staff to identify individuals in pre-trial custody who may qualify for residential substance use treatment as an alternative to continued incarceration.
Clinical Services— Overseeing the delivery of in-jail behavioral health assessments, mental health and brain illness screenings, substance use treatment services, and care coordination within Burke, Catawba, and Lincoln County detention facilities.
Re-Entry Services — Supervising post-release follow-up services including transportation to behavioral health and substance use treatment appointments, linkage to community resources, benefits coordination, and transitional housing support to promote successful community reintegration and reduce recidivism.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day supervisory oversight to jail services staff across all three counties.
Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with county detention facility staff, law enforcement, the judicial system, and community stakeholders
Monitor program performance metrics and ensure documentation, billing, and compliance standards are met in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements
Identify and address service gaps, barriers to access, and opportunities for program growth or improvement
Represent CVH at interagency meetings, justice-system collaborative tables, and community events related to diversion and re-entry
Support staff training, onboarding, and professional development
Assist in grant reporting, data collection, and outcome tracking related to Jail Services program goals, including reductions in recidivism and symptom improvement during incarceration
Qualifications
Required:
Licensed or provisionally license in North Carolina (LCMHC, LCSW, LCAS, or equivalent)
Minimum of two to three years of supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or with individuals involved in the criminal justice system
Strong working knowledge of mental health, substance use disorders, and trauma-informed care principles
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with law enforcement, judicial personnel, and community partners
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Valid North Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation for travel across Burke, Catawba, and Lincoln counties
