Job Description:
GigaTECH LLC is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support the efficient operation of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems and networks. The ideal candidate will perform system administration tasks, maintain detailed system logs, and troubleshoot a wide variety of issues in complex environments to maintain system efficiency. This position requires extensive knowledge of debugging protocols and processes and the ability to troubleshoot problems, identify customer issues, and implement corrective actions quickly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience
- 8 years’ additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or similar are a plus
Required Experience:
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, with a strong background in maintaining and troubleshooting high volume/high availability, complex systems and networks
- Proficiency with operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux/Unix), virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Experience with high-availability and clustered systems, load balancers, and storage solutions
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and tools (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Wireshark) and debugging protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP
- Conducting regular maintenance, monitoring, and optimization to ensure system performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues across diverse systems and networks, including high-volume and high-availability environments
- Utilizing advanced knowledge of debugging protocols and processes (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP) to identify and resolve technical issues
- Collaborating with customers and team members to diagnose problems and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
- Experience maintaining thorough documentation of system activities, configurations, and incident resolutions
