We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to our mission of launching the next wave of successful startups.
As a Backend Engineer at UP.Labs, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining the server-side logic of our applications. You will work closely with product teams to ensure seamless integration and high performance of our platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
- Optimize application performance and ensure high availability
- Implement security best practices to protect data and infrastructure
- Maintain and improve database performance, including indexing and query optimization.
- Write clena, reusable, and well documented code following best practices
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and resolve issues proactively
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in backend development.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in building and deploying backend applications.
- Strong experience with Node.js for building server-side applications and APIs using JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Strong experience with Python for backend development and scripting, using Django, Flask, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience working with Nest.js, Express or other similar frameworks
- Skilled in API testing and automation with Postman
- Strong experience with RESTful APIs
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Experience with Microservice Frameworks using NestJS, gRPC, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization methods (OAuth, JWT, API keys).
- Strong understanding of Git, Git Workflows, and branching strategies for version control.
- Understanding of performance optimization techniques for backend applications.
- Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Jest).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud) and serverless computing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
- Knowledge in IaaC with Terraform or CloudFormation
