Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Compliance leads Lahal Casino Management’s compliance, cyber security, and anti–money laundering programs. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing compliance frameworks, controls, and mitigation strategies that uphold requirements set out by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC). The Director supports compliance across all Lahal-managed casinos, entertainment venues and properties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESRisk Management & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance and reporting framework.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide risk register, including identification, assessment, tracking, and reporting of risks.
  • Lead and perform compliance reviews to verify that regulatory and oversight requirements are met and that controls are commensurate with both legal requirements and risk.
  • Recommend and implement operationally aware controls and mitigations for risk and non‑compliance issues across the organization.
  • Oversee corporate insurance and claims management, including liaising with external providers as required.
Leadership & Oversight
  • Provide leadership to the Cyber Security and Compliance programs ensuring alignment with business units and operational excellence.
  • Deliver compliance-related training to leadership and site team members as needed.
  • Support the VP, Compliance & Corporate Services in annual budgeting, cost management, and resource planning.
Policy & Regulatory Alignment
  • Collaborate with business units to develop compliant, operationally practical policies and procedures that meet the Gaming Control Act, BCLC requirements, and all other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure AML controls, reporting and associated risk frameworks align with the PCMLTFA and gaming regulations and standards in British Columbia.
  • Ensure that all regulatory and oversight requirements, including but not limited to, gaming, liquor, privacy, email, and lobbying are met and implemented in a timely manner and where practicable, within established timeframes.
Licensing and Registration
  • Track liquor license expirations and coordinate the submission of new applications, changes, and renewals.
  • Track corporate gaming and lottery registration expirations and coordinate the submission of corporate (non-personal) applications and renewals.
  • Track business license expirations and advise Finance and sites in advance.
Training
  • Develop and deliver compliance-related training to leadership, site staff, ownership and others, as required.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5+ years leading compliance, risk management, audit, or regulatory-focused teams.
  • Advanced understanding of BC gaming regulations, AML controls, and financial risk frameworks.
  • Experience in gaming, liquor, and privacy compliance environments.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage highly sensitive matters confidentially.
