Associate Clinical Mentor Job Description

Innovate ABA, LLC

As part of Innovate ABA, it is the responsibility of the Associate Clinical Mentor to provide direct services to ABA clients and assist with supervising cases under the mentoring of a Clinical Mentor BCBA. Approximately 80% of work will be supervisory in nature and approximately 20% will be direct intervention. The Associate Clinical Mentor provides training to behavior therapists and/or responsible parties tasked with the implementation of behavior analytic interventions. The Associate Clinical Mentor also provides training to parents/guardians and other responsible parties for the client.

Reports to: Clinical Director

Supervision Over: Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), behavior therapists, and direct care staff

Availability: Monday- Friday from 8 am-5 pm

Position Type: Full time

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience: · Possess a minimum of a Master’s degree or national equivalent with a major in psychology, special education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field of study is preferred. · Recently certified or working towards Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred· A minimum of 5 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with various special needs.

Knowledge of: · Appropriate behavioral intervention strategies· Learning theories and instructional methods· Ethics, laws, and regulations of acceptable behavior interventions· Developmental processes of children, adolescents, and adults· Interpersonal skills needed to manage crisis situations· Technology, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ABA software platforms· Correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling· Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply

Skills and Abilities to: · Assess situations and make proper judgments· Understand behavioral situations and react accordingly in an ethical manner· Objectively analyze crisis situations· Respond quickly to emergency situations· Handle aggressive and self-injurious behaviors of clients· Communicate effectively and make recommendations to various agency staff and/or parents· Perform general clerical duties including maintain accurate client records and preparing clear and concise reports· Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/caregivers, school personnel, and other agency staff· Use a computer and behavioral software to prepare documents and maintain client records· Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines· Follow guidance from senior level staff to enhance own professional development· Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful manner.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to consumers and coworkers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
