DevSecOps Research and Development Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevSecOps Research and Development Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to advanced research and engineering initiatives focused on secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions.
You will design, implement, and optimize DevSecOps environments supporting critical projects in a highly technical research setting.
Working alongside engineers, researchers, and government-focused teams, you will help solve complex challenges through automation, cloud technologies, and secure software practices.

Accountabilities:

The DevSecOps Research and Development Engineer will support the design, development, and improvement of secure software development environments and automation solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable solutions.

  • Design and implement secure automation solutions across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Enhance existing systems through updates, automation, troubleshooting, and technology improvements.
  • Work with engineering teams and stakeholders to identify technical risks, requirements, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support project-level planning by evaluating challenges, proposing solutions, and coordinating technical activities.
  • Present technical briefings, project updates, and proposals to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage Linux-based infrastructures and support secure computing environments.
  • Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline workflows and improve operational performance.
  • Apply cloud technologies, containerization platforms, and open-source tools to support modern software development practices.
  • Monitor system performance using logging, search, and aggregation platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and proactively identify potential system challenges.
  • Collaborate with team members while working independently and managing priorities effectively.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has experience in software development operations, infrastructure management, automation, and secure technology environments. They should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, technical curiosity, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience level may vary based on position grade, including opportunities for early-career and experienced professionals.
  • Strong experience working with Linux-based infrastructures and Linux/Unix administration.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Ansible.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with open-source technologies and cloud platforms, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and analytics tools such as Splunk, Elastic, or Prometheus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical processes clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Preferred experience with tools and technologies such as:
    • Atlassian products including JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
    • Programming languages such as Java, C/C++, and MATLAB.
    • Virtualization technologies including VMware.
    • GitLab and related DevOps platforms.
    • Databases such as SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
    • Additional cloud and open-source technology solutions.
  • Must be eligible to obtain required government security clearance and meet applicable compliance requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
