Job Description

About Peregrine Solutions, Inc.

Peregrine Solutions, Inc. is an owner representative construction management firm supporting some of the most complex federal and private-sector construction and infrastructure programs in the National Capital Region and beyond. We take pride in placing highly qualified project managers, inspectors, and construction professionals on mission-critical projects — from historic government facilities to healthcare campuses and secure federal buildings — and in delivering results that protect quality, schedule, and budget. If you are a driven professional who values technical excellence, integrity, and meaningful federal work, we invite you to join our growing team.

About the role

Peregrine Solutions is seeking an experienced MEP Quality Assurance Inspector to fill a full-time position in Washington DC.

The MEP Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for monitoring and verifying that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities conform to project specifications, applicable codes, engineering drawings, and quality standards. This role serves as an on-site authority for quality compliance throughout all phases of construction, from pre-installation through final commissioning.

At Peregrine, we lead with integrity, steward our partnerships with care, and deliver with precision. If you’re ready to bring your expertise to a team that values both operational rigor and meaningful collaboration, we invite you to apply.

What you'll do

  • Conduct daily field inspections of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, fire suppression) and electrical installations (conduit, cable trays, wiring, panel boards, switchgear, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems)
  • Verify equipment and materials meet approved submittals, specifications, and manufacturer requirements prior to installation
  • Witness and document required tests including hydrostatic, pressure, continuity, insulation resistance, and operational testing
  • Review and verify contractor as-built markups for accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and punch lists; track NCR resolution and verify corrective actions are closed out
  • Maintain inspection and test records (ITRs) and ensure proper sign-off sequences are followed
  • Document photographic evidence of work in progress and completed installations; submit daily inspection logs to the QA Manager and project team
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes including NEC, NFPA, ASME, IMC, IPC, and local AHJ requirements
  • Confirm work aligns with approved shop drawings, RFIs, and specifications; coordinate with third-party special inspectors and testing agencies as required
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings and constructability reviews
  • Interface with contractors, subcontractors, and the engineering team to resolve field quality issues, communicate deficiencies clearly, and support commissioning and system turnover activities
  • Attend project meetings and provide QA status updates to the project team

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance on complex high value ($150M) projects including New Federal (GSA, DoD) Construction Experience.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, IBC, IMC, IPC, and ASME standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals
  • Hands-on experience with Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) such as Procore, eBuilder, Kahua, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to navigate workflows, upload documentation, and track field progress digitally.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, detailed inspection reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to obtain an HSPD-12 badge (Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12)
  • USACE Construction Quality Control (CQM) and OSHA-30 Certifications highly preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work full-time onsite in Washington D.C.
