The Centralized Payment Specialist position performs advanced accounting work to maintain financial records and provide accurate financial information for district and appellate courts.
This position performs advanced accounting work to maintain financial records and ensure the accuracy of financial information for district and appellate courts. The role involves managing a significant segment of the court’s accounting system. Work is performed with a high degree of independence, within established policies and procedures, and is reviewed primarily through periodic audits and verification of financial records and reports.
Job Duties:
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping; and three or more years of bookkeeping experience. Experience working in the Kansas Judicial Branch is desired but not required

This position performs advanced accounting work to maintain financial records and ensure the accuracy of financial information for district and appellate courts. The role involves managing a significant segment of the court’s accounting system. Work is performed with a high degree of independence, within established policies and procedures, and is reviewed primarily through periodic audits and verification of financial records and reports.
Job Duties:
- Receives and disburses court payments, including court costs, fines, restitution, judgments, bonds. Validates transactions, balances accounts, posts entries, issues checks per court orders; and researches delinquent payments.
- Disburses restitution, judgments, and other funds in accordance with court orders and Kansas statutes, ensuring proper deductions for court cost and related fees.
- Oversees enforcement of non-compliance and overdue accounts in district courts, ensuring alignment with Kansas statutory requirements
- Manages collections processes for district courts, including the export of cases to contracted vendors across the state.
- Educates and informs Kansas citizens of the utilization of online payment portal for the new centralized case management system.
- Coordinates daily cash deposits, check, money order, and credit card payments from district court accounts and manages the electronic transfer of funds to state accounts.
- Leads and supports the work of subordinate account clerks.
- Advises district court staff on implementing effective internal financial controls.
- Performs related work as required.
