This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Client Engineer based in United States.
This is a senior, client-facing engineering role that combines strategic technology advisory with hands-on technical execution.
You will serve as a trusted technology partner for clients, helping them navigate complex infrastructure, security, compliance, and application decisions.
The role requires you to understand business objectives, assess technology environments, and translate complex technical considerations into practical recommendations.
You will also deploy and configure infrastructure, troubleshoot systems, evaluate vendors, and support technology initiatives across diverse client environments.
Success depends on strong technical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to operate confidently with both engineers and executive stakeholders.
You will collaborate with internal technology teams and external partners to connect client needs with effective delivery solutions.
The position offers exposure to emerging technologies, challenging problems, and opportunities to grow into senior engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles.
- Serve as the senior technology point of contact for assigned clients, taking ownership of strategic technology relationships and providing trusted technical guidance.
- Lead discovery conversations to understand client objectives, existing technology investments, technical constraints, and emerging requirements.
- Translate complex infrastructure, security, compliance, and technology concepts into clear recommendations for non-technical and executive audiences.
- Represent the organization during client meetings with a credible, consultative, and solutions-oriented approach.
- Address technology requests outside standard managed service scope, including specialized platforms, line-of-business applications, and bespoke infrastructure requirements.
- Rapidly assess unfamiliar systems and platforms, identifying hosting requirements, integration dependencies, security considerations, and compliance implications.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot infrastructure and applications, including server environments, system configurations, data connections, and application-level integrations.
- Provide practical guidance aligned with applicable frameworks and controls, including CMMC, NIST 800-171, and CIS Controls.
- Identify technology, security, compliance, and operational gaps, then communicate risks and remediation priorities clearly to clients.
- Support vendor evaluations, RFP processes, technology procurement decisions, technical contract reviews, and total cost of ownership assessments.
- Evaluate vendor security posture, service-level commitments, integration readiness, and overall suitability for each client environment.
- Create clear client-facing deliverables such as assessments, technology roadmaps, briefing documents, recommendations, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with IT Operations, SOC, GRC, and other internal teams to route client requirements to the appropriate delivery function.
- Document technical patterns, assessments, recommendations, and recurring solutions to strengthen organizational knowledge and improve future client engagements.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, IT consulting, technology advisory, or similar roles with demonstrated client-facing ownership.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, modern identity management, and endpoint management technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly understand unfamiliar technology platforms and develop actionable recommendations without requiring full end-to-end ownership.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through, including validation and technical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience working with compliance and security frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, or CIS Controls.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions, identify risks, and balance security, compliance, business needs, and practical implementation considerations.
- CompTIA Security+ certification, or the ability to obtain the certification within six months of hire.
- Experience working across multiple client environments in an MSP, MSSP, consulting, or similar setting is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Government, Microsoft 365 GCC High, or other FedRAMP Moderate environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with vendor evaluations, RFP processes, technology procurement, and technical contract assessments is a plus.
- Experience assessing specialized or line-of-business applications, such as BI, ERP, CRM, or industry-specific platforms, from an infrastructure, security, or compliance perspective is desirable.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and practical exposure to technologies such as Fortinet, Meraki, Ubiquiti UniFi, or Cloudflare Zero Trust is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud backup, disaster recovery, and data retention concepts is beneficial.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
