JOB SUMMARY

The Nail Technician contributes to the success of Sanctuary Camelback Mountain's Spa & Wellness experience by providing exceptional nail care services, including manicures, pedicures, and no-chip gel polish, while creating a consistently memorable and relaxing experience for guests and members. This role assesses individual needs, evaluates the condition and appearance of nails, and recommends appropriate services to support each guest's desired wellness and beauty experience.

Guided by Sanctuary's North Star Vision and Spirit of Service, the Nail Technician builds authentic connections, provides attentive and personalized care, and creates intentional spa experiences beyond imagination where guests and members feel valued, understood, and cared for.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Guest Relations

• Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible. Upon departure, thank guests and provide a fond farewell.
• Actively listen and respond positively to guest questions, concerns, and requests.
• Anticipate guests' service needs, acting on them when possible.
• Answer questions about general property information and amenities.
• Provide assistance to individuals with disabilities, including assisting visually, hearing, or physically-impaired individuals within guidelines (e.g., escorting them when requested, using words to explain actions, writing directions on paper, moving objects out of the way, or offering access to Braille or TDD phones).

Provide Salon Services

• Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
• Maintain current licensure in service area.
• Monitor and stick to time schedule to stay on schedule throughout the day.
• Examine guests' nails to evaluate condition and appearance.
• Determine if condition of guest's nails prevents being able to complete a service and suggest an alternate service if necessary.
• Arrange workstation to ensure guest comfort and safety.
• Offer guests amenities such as beverages or heated neck pillows.
• Advise guests on proper nail care and recommend home care regimens.
• Handle inappropriate guest behavior by stopping service and informing manager.
• Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications (e.g., allergies) before beginning service.
• Provide nail care services such as manicures/pedicures and no chip gel polish to guests.
• Removes previously applied nail polish.
• Shapes and smooth ends of nails.
• Cleans customers' nails in soapy water. Softens nail cuticles with water, pushes back cuticles, and trims cuticles. Massages area with lotion.
• Polishes nails or applies clear or colored liquid polish onto nails with brush.
• Applies paraffin treatment.
• Polishes nails including base and top coats to preserve the manicure as long as possible.

Maintain Spa/Salon Environment

• Clean, maintain, and sterilize tools and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstation and/or treatment room throughout shift.
• Set up workstation/treatment room with necessary products, equipment, and supplies.
• Dispose of trash and dirty linens in the proper area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of guests, team members, and company information.
• Safeguard company tools, equipment, products, and other assets.
• Follow all resort and departmental safety, security, sanitation, and operating procedures.
• Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns promptly to management.
• Safely operate, clean, disinfect, and store tools and equipment in accordance with departmental standards.
• Follow Hazard Communication (HazCom) procedures for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and products, including the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation throughout each service and shift.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, twist, and stoop as required to perform nail services.
• Demonstrate fine motor skills, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity for detailed services.
• Grasp, turn, and manipulate tools, implements, and products of varying sizes and weights.
• Safely lift, carry, push, or pull supplies and equipment as required.

Spa/Salon Service

• Perform professional nail services, including manicures, pedicures, and gel polish, in accordance with Sanctuary Spa standards.
• Assess nail condition and recognize disorders or conditions that may require modification or discontinuation of service.
• Consult with guests regarding their needs and preferences and recommend appropriate services and products.
• Maintain knowledge of nail care techniques, products, sanitation practices, and contraindications.
• Promote appropriate spa and salon products and services based on guest needs.
• Deliver a clean, polished, personalized, and exceptional guest experience aligned with Sanctuary's luxury service standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Technical, Trade or Vocational School Degree.
• State Nail Care License.

Related Work Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years related work experience.
• Experience in a resort environment is a plus.
