Job Description

The Vice President of Supply Chain is responsible for leading and developing the company’s supply chain function across all facilities, including procurement, strategic sourcing, inventory management, planning, and logistics. This role will build the organizational structure, team, processes, and capabilities required to support significant growth, including approximately $100 million in annual spend across three facilities within the next five years. The Vice President will ensure supply chain strategy and execution support the company’s operational, financial, service, and growth objectives.

  • Develop and execute the company-wide supply chain strategy in support of business growth, customer service, cost, quality, and working capital objectives.
  • Assess current and future supply chain requirements and build the organizational structure, roles, and capabilities needed to support the company at scale.
  • Lead and develop the supply chain team, including establishing clear responsibilities, performance expectations, succession plans, and future talent needs.
  • Provide leadership for procurement and strategic sourcing across raw materials, packaging, indirect spend, and other key categories.
  • Develop category and supplier strategies that improve cost, service, quality, supply security, and overall value to the business.
  • Lead major supplier negotiations, contracts, and commercial agreements and establish appropriate supplier performance management processes.
  • Develop and maintain strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate supply continuity, capacity, geographic, and single-source risks.
  • Establish consistent procurement, planning, inventory management, and logistics processes across all company facilities.
  • Lead inventory strategy and performance, balancing service requirements, production needs, working capital, shelf life, obsolescence, and supply risk.
  • Partner with Operations and Commercial teams to improve demand, supply, and production planning processes and ensure alignment between customer requirements and supply capabilities.
  • Establish supply chain KPIs, reporting, and management routines to improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making.
  • Identify and lead cost savings, productivity, and value-creation initiatives across the supply chain while maintaining appropriate quality and service levels.
  • Evaluate systems, data, and technology requirements and partner with IT and other functions to develop scalable supply chain tools and capabilities.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory to support new products, new materials, supplier qualification, and changing business requirements.
  • Support integration and standardization efforts across facilities as the company grows and evolves

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build, develop, and scale teams.
  • Broad knowledge of strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, inventory, planning, and logistics.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills, including experience managing significant external spend.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with an understanding of cost, working capital, inventory, and operational performance.
  • Ability to develop long-term strategy while maintaining strong execution and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through growth, change, and increasing organizational complexity.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to establish structure, processes, and accountability in a growing organization.
  • Strong systems orientation and ability to use data to support decision-making and performance improvement.

    The physical responsibilities described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, as well as talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to regularly use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull office supplies up to 25 pounds.

    Working Conditions:

    The position works in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.

    Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

    Travel:

    Local and out of state travel may be required to visit vendors or other Custom Flavors locations. Up to 50% out of state travel expected.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience with responsibility for managing and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling supply chain capabilities in a growing organization.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing significant direct material spend and complex supplier relationships strongly preferred.
  • Food, flavor, ingredient, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
