About the Role Introduction

This is a high-impact opportunity to join Oxford University Press and play a leading role in the growth of the Oxford English Assessment portfolio across India, with a particular focus on the Oxford Test of English (OTE).

As one of Oxford’s strategic growth areas, this role offers the chance to shape market expansion, influence assessment adoption, build meaningful partnerships, and strengthen Oxford’s position within the English language assessment ecosystem. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of stakeholders across education, employability, international mobility, and professional certification sectors while contributing directly to Oxford’s mission of advancing education and learning globally.

Opportunity

In this role, you will:

Market Growth & Commercial Strategy

• Define, implement, and continuously refine the commercial growth strategy for Oxford English Assessment in India, with a primary focus on the Oxford Test of English.
• Develop annual and multi-year growth plans aligned with global assessment objectives.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across higher education, vocational education, schools, employers, agents, study-abroad consultants, and government stakeholders.
• Deliver agreed revenue, test volume, and market-share targets.

Test Centre Network Development

• Identify, recruit, onboard, and support high-performing Oxford Test of English Approved Test Centres across India.
• Support the test centre approval process while ensuring compliance with Oxford quality and operational standards.
• Drive test centre productivity through business planning, training, performance reviews, and commercial support.
• Identify opportunities to expand market reach through affiliates, channel partners, and strategic distributors.

Recognition & Stakeholder Engagement

• Develop relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across India’s education and employability ecosystem.
• Represent Oxford English Assessment at conferences, policy forums, industry events, and stakeholder meetings.
• Strengthen Oxford’s position as a thought leader in English language assessment and employability.

Sales & Partner Management

• Develop and execute sales plans for the Oxford Test of English and associated assessment products.
• Manage strategic partnerships and high-value accounts to maximise adoption and testing volumes.
• Negotiate commercial arrangements within approved authority levels and organisational policies.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and remove barriers to adoption.

Market Intelligence

• Monitor competitor activity, market trends, regulatory developments, and customer needs.
• Gather and communicate market intelligence to support product development and strategic decision-making.
• Identify emerging opportunities related to international mobility, graduate employability, higher education admissions, and workforce skills.

Forecasting & Performance Management

• Prepare accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and business plans.
• Maintain opportunity and customer data within Salesforce and other reporting tools.
• Track performance against agreed KPIs and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Produce regular business reviews and growth reports for leadership teams.

Training & Internal Collaboration

• Deliver effective assessment product training to internal teams, partners, and customers.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, customer success, and operations teams to ensure successful implementation of growth initiatives.
• Act as the India market expert for Oxford English Assessment.

Impact of the Role

This role is critical to expanding Oxford English Assessment across India and establishing the Oxford Test of English as a preferred English proficiency assessment. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth, increase test volumes, expand the approved test centre network, strengthen strategic partnerships, improve market awareness, and contribute directly to Oxford University Press’s long-term growth strategy in assessment and English language learning.

About You Essential Criteria

• 5+ years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, channel management, or strategic partnerships.
• Demonstrated success in delivering commercial growth and revenue targets.
• Experience within education, English language learning, assessment, certification, EdTech, study abroad, or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of the Indian higher education and/or English language learning and assessment market.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrable track record in key account management or assessment-related sales roles.
• Proven record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
• Dynamic self-starter with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent English language proficiency.
• Excellent organisational, analytical, and structured decision-making capabilities.
• Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working with English language assessment products or testing organisations.
• Experience managing strategic partnerships across education and employability sectors.
• Exposure to international education, student mobility, certification, or workforce skills initiatives.
• Experience engaging with government bodies, higher education institutions, or industry associations.
