Summary:

Vighter is recruiting Family Practice Registered Nurses (RNs), to provide patient care and administrative support for the Warrior Operational Medical Clinic at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. In accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines, while supporting the healthcare needs of Active Duty Service Members.

In addition to regularly scheduled cases, staff may provide on-call services for urgent and emergent cases after hours, weekends, and holidays. The team strives to provide advanced notice for all scheduling of RN coverage to provide predictability and ease of planning.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Provide professional nursing care for TRICARE beneficiaries from newborn through geriatric populations.
  • Support the Primary Care Manager (PCM) team within the Air Force Medical Home model.
  • Assess, screen, and triage patients in person, by telephone, and through secure messaging.
  • Coordinate care, referrals, diagnostic testing, follow-up, and specialty services.
  • Perform nursing assessments and apply evidence-based clinical practices.
  • Administer medications andmonitoradverse reactions.
  • Perform nursing procedures within scope of practice, including EKGs, phlebotomy, catheterizations, nebulizer treatments, PFTs, and other clinic procedures.
  • Assistproviders with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Respond to clinical emergencies andassistwith transfer to higher levels of care.
  • Coordinate with case management,utilizationmanagement, disease management, and care coordination as needed.
  • Maintainaccuratemedicalrecorddocumentation and coding.
  • Follow HIPAA, DHA, Air Force, MTF, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and professional nursing standards.
  • Participate in staff training, committees, quality improvement, customer service, and medical readiness activities.
  • Maintain a safe clinical environment and proper infection-control practices.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of medical conditions and disease processes across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge of preventive care, ambulatory nursing, clinical guidelines, and patient education.
  • Knowledge of medications, dosage calculations, side effects, and safe administration.
  • Strong assessment, triage, documentation, and care coordination skills.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to urgent, emergent, or deteriorating patient conditions.
  • Strong communicationand patient/family education skills.

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a nationally accredited nursing program.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ambulatory Care Nursing certification and ACLS, if required by the MTF.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time nursing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of primary care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Recent experience with computer operations, data entry, and electronic medical records.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:

  • The expected duty hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 0730-1630, with 1 hour break as stated within the contract.

Travel:

  • As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day, must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
