Qualifications

RS&H is currently seeking an Airport Manager to join our team at SunTrax. This is an embedded position reporting to the office 5 days per week at SunTrax in Auburndale, FL.

RS&H is seeking an experienced Airport Operations Manager to support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, administration, and management of a client-owned airport.

In this role, you'll be at the center of airport operations, partnering closely with the client, tenants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the airport operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

From coordinating airfield inspections and addressing operational needs to supporting capital improvements and long-term planning, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to both the airport's daily success and its future development.

You'll also help guide a multidisciplinary team, establish consistent operating procedures, and serve as a trusted point of contact for airport-related matters. This position offers the opportunity to apply your aviation expertise, build meaningful relationships, and make an impact in a dynamic operational environment.

The role primarily leads airport operations management activities and may also oversee smaller, less complex, or lower-risk projects. You'll work with moderate supervision while exercising independent judgment and decision-making on routine matters and navigating more complex operational challenges as they arise.

What You'll Do

  • Keep airport operations running smoothly. Support the day-to-day administration, operations, and maintenance of the airport, ensuring activities align with client expectations and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Be a trusted partner to the client. Serve as a primary point of contact for airport-related matters, establishing operational procedures, communicating expectations, and ensuring consistent implementation across the airport.
  • Build strong tenant relationships. Coordinate tenant needs, including facility access, move-in logistics, maintenance requests, and authorization to use client-owned facilities.
  • Champion safety and compliance. Conduct routine airfield inspections, identify operational or safety concerns, and coordinate timely corrective actions. Work with the FAA and state aviation regulatory agencies to support compliance.
  • Support airport improvements and future planning. Contribute to operating budgets, capital improvement program recommendations, and the airport's strategic plan.
  • Provide insight and recommendations. Prepare and present operational reports, recommendations, and plans to the client, implementing approved actions and maintaining accurate airport records.
  • Connect with the community. Represent the client and airport in meetings with tenants, stakeholders, municipalities, adjacent property owners, and other community partners.
  • Help coordinate airport operations. Work with multidisciplinary team members to support operational priorities, maintain effective communication, and address evolving airport needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple assignments, and follow through on commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with clients, tenants, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • The confidence to exercise sound judgment, work independently with general direction, and help guide and influence others.
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a solid understanding of project management responsibilities.
  • The ability to understand and support client and firm goals while serving as a reliable source of airport operational information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAAE Certified Member designation and/or AAAE Airport Certified Employee certification in Airfield Operations or a related discipline.

Make an Impact Where It Matters

Airport operations require teamwork, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to bring those strengths together while supporting the people, facilities, and operational decisions that keep an airport moving forward.
