Custodial Services (ATCC) in Russellville, Arkansas at Arkansas Tech University (AR)

The Institutional Services Assistant is responsible for general cleaning of areas in and around office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, residence halls, dining areas, building common areas, and other assigned areas. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
- Remove trash from waste baskets; empty, sanitize, and reline receptacles daily or as needed; operate trash compactors.
- Wipe and clean furniture, desktops, tables, and other surfaces.
- Clean walls, windows, window sills, stairways, and entryways as needed.
- Sweep, mop, buff, and vacuum floors; shampoo carpets; clean baseboards, furniture, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, ceiling fans, and instructional boards.
- Strip, wax, and buff floors as scheduled or needed.
- Clean restroom fixtures and restock soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels.
- Clean areas requiring specialized cleaning procedures, including use of approved cleansers, sterilization equipment, and proper disposal of contaminated waste.
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and post-event cleaning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform routine custodial duties, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating standard custodial equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in custodial, housekeeping, facilities maintenance, or related cleaning experience.
- Experience operating custodial equipment such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, and commercial vacuums.
This position works at Arkansas Tech Career Center (ATCC) in Russellville, AR. The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Duties require the use of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals, as well as the ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
