Job Description

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for assisting and supporting the Facility Director The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a crucial role in supporting the Facility Director and all treatment program staff. Their primary responsibility is to coordinate and provide the day-to-day operational needs of the facility and its patients. BHTs are also responsible for assisting with scheduled monitoring and reporting of the facility’s condition to ensure safe and orderly operations. BHTs are involved in various intake procedures, including data collection when patients arrive at the facility, conducting searches and rounds, ensuring patient safety during treatment, and assisting treatment teams in overseeing patients’ daily schedules within the facility’s policies and procedures, in accordance with state and federal regulations.

As a BHT, your duties include: - Supervision of patients during their daily activities.

- Ensuring patients adhere to the clinical schedule and communicating any issues to the treatment team.

- Transporting clients (if applicable) as needed, provided you have a valid driver’s license. If you’re eligible to drive and it’s part of your duties, you must: - Obey the rules of the Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation, and all safety regulations set forth by the State.

- Conduct continuous rounds of the facility, rooms, and grounds to ensure overall safety. - Proactively ensuring that the facility’s rules and the patients’ rights are upheld.

- Communicating and resolving issues with housekeeping duties, building and grounds upkeep.

- Assisting with preparing rooms and common areas for client admission and discharge.

- Fostering a supportive environment for clients that adheres to ethical treatment practices.

- Promoting a positive and collaborative work atmosphere based on teamwork.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must:

- Maintain up-to-date certification.

- Complete CPR, verbal de-escalation, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, incident reporting, infection control, overdose prevention, and self-administration of medications (when applicable).

- Complete CLIA-waived training and follow the guidelines and steps for conducting and collecting samples for tests such as urine drug screening, breathalyzers, glucometers, and pregnancy tests (when applicable).

- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member, communicate effectively, organize your work, and interact positively with others.

- Familiarity with drug-free workplace policies, completion of harassment and discrimination training, and knowledge of corporate integrity and compliance programs are also crucial. Additionally, a score above 70% on the substance use disorder training and familiarity with community resources or contacts for such resources are desirable.

Key skills we seek include a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience in customer service, hospitals, or treatment programs.

For drivers, a minimum of five years of driving experience, a valid driver’s license, and a clear driving record approved by the insurance carrier are required. Experience in the chemical dependency/substance abuse/psychiatric setting or human services field is preferred.

Before hiring, a background check and results will be conducted. Training or certifications in CPR, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, verbal de-escalation, incident reporting, infection/STD risks, HEP B/C, abuse, neglect, trauma, and exploitation, understanding substance use disorder, and any other training required by the state or the Joint Commission will be completed
