Planner & Procurement Specialist.
Location: Miami, FL (On-site)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (ET)
Reports to: Technical Operations Manager.
Aeroservicios USA is a Miami-based provider of new and refurbished Ground Support Equipment (GSE), serving airlines, ground handlers, FBOs, and other aviation-related customers through direct sales, leases, rentals, and maintenance services.
Aeroservicios is seeking a detail-driven, safety-conscious Production Planner & Procurement Specialist to spearhead manufacturing schedules, vendor acquisitions, and rigorous workplace safety standards for our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) division. In this critical dual-focus role, you will bridge the gap between material acquisition, shop-floor workflow execution, and regulatory safety compliance, ensuring our heavy equipment fabrication lines operate at peak efficiency without compromising worker protection or OSHA mandates.
The ideal candidate must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in English. This role requires direct communication with U.S. customers, strong customer service skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to support administrative task.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize master production schedules (MPS) for custom and serial-production Ground Support Equipment (e.g., baggage tractors, belt loaders, GPU units, passenger stairs).
- Coordinate closely with engineering, welding, fabrication, and assembly departments to balance shop capacity, labor availability, and material lead times.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) inventories, identify potential bottlenecks or material shortages, and rapidly deploy contingency plans to hit delivery commitments.
- Generate daily and weekly production reports detailing schedule adherence, throughput metrics, and efficiency variances.
- Manage end-to-end procurement and purchasing lifecycles for raw structural steel, hydraulics, electrical components, fasteners, and specialized GSE sub-assemblies.
- Source and vet qualified suppliers, negotiate volume pricing, payment terms, and delivery service-level agreements (SLAs) to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Issue purchase orders (POs), track shipments, reconcile vendor invoices against receiving logs, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain optimal inventory threshold levels using MRP/ERP systems to prevent stockouts while mitigating carrying costs.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on OSHA compliance (specifically 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standards and 29 CFR 1926 where applicable) across all fabrication and assembly bays.
- Conduct routine safety audits, hazard assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for heavy lifting, overhead crane operation, welding, painting, and assembly processes.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to enforce proper PPE adherence, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, hazard communication (HazCom), and ergonomic best practices.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, or equipment malfunctions, documenting root causes and driving corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate safety training sessions and onboarding safety briefings for all new floor personnel and contractors
Requirements / Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (equivalent professional experience in heavy manufacturing will be considered).
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in production planning, inventory control, and purchasing within a heavy manufacturing, industrial machinery, or automotive environment. GSE industry experience is highly preferred.
Regulatory Expertise: Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of OSHA standards (OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification or higher preferred). Ability to interpret and apply safety regulations to heavy fabrication and assembly lines.
Technical Acumen: Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and bill of materials (BOMs). Strong command of ERP/MRP software (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar).
Negotiation & Communication: Proven track record in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cross-functional leadership. Excellent bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are a strong asset.
