Welding Foreman

Position Type: Full-time, Non-exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Superintendent/Production Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: Welding Team

Location: Jacksonville, FL or Fort Worth, TX

Summary Objective

The Structural/Pipe Welding Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily welding operations, ensuring weld quality through real-time monitoring, and maintaining compliance with project specifications and documentation requirements. This position acts as the primary liaison between the Welding, QC, and Paint teams to ensure smooth workflow, timely verification, and accurate record keeping.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and verify welds in real time to ensure compliance with applicable codes, drawings, and project requirements.
  • Conduct in-process weld checks and provide immediate feedback to welders to prevent rework and quality issues.
  • Maintain and update weld documentation (Travelers, weld maps, and associated records) daily.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure weld inspections are scheduled, completed, and properly recorded.
  • Collaborate with the Paint Department to confirm weld completion and inspection status prior to coating.
  • Support and guide welders through on-the-job training (OJT) to improve technique, consistency, and quality standards.
  • Assist with planning daily welding assignments, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, company procedures, and industry standards at all times.
  • Report progress, issues, and corrective actions to the Welding Superintendent and Production Manager.
  • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Location

This position will work out of our facilities in Jacksonville, FL or Fort Worth, TX. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

Work Environment
This position operates out of a fabrication facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The first shift days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Second shift Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel
Travel is primarily not required with exception to local travel during the business day.

Required Education and Experience.

  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
  • Working knowledge of weld tracking and documentation systems.
  • Excellent Communication Proficiency - Written and Verbal
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in welding SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW, or a combination

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years vocational technical training
  • Experience as a foreman or lead welder
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook

Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
