About the Facility

Isuzu North America Corporation is investing approximately $280 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Greenville County, South Carolina.

The 1-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art production plant, located on more than 200 acres, will feature a flexible manufacturing line capable of producing both internal combustion and electric vehicles.

Position Summary

The Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting automated control systems used throughout the vehicle manufacturing process. This includes instrumentation, sensors, VFDs, HMIs, and control panels. The role supports operational reliability by ensuring control loops function properly and that equipment responds accurately to control inputs. The technician collaborates closely with engineers, electricians, and automation teams to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates industrial control systems, including sensors, transmitters, and actuators
  • Performs installation and maintenance of HMI panels, VFDs, and control cabinets
  • Conducts functional tests of control loops and signal communications (analog/digital I/O, fieldbus systems)
  • Assists in programming adjustments for PLCs and HMIs under engineering guidance
  • Reads and interprets control schematics, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings
  • Monitors system performance and supports predictive and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Documents changes to control systems, parameter adjustments, and calibration records in CMMS
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Production to support upgrades, new system installations, and testing
  • Ensures compliance with safety protocols, including LOTO and electrical safety procedures
  • Supports training and troubleshooting guidance for operations and maintenance personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support company and department goals
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in electrical, instrumentation, or automation preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with control systems in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Experience with VFDs, HMIs, industrial sensors, and low-voltage control wiring
  • Familiarity with PLC-based control environments and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus)
  • Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance practices
  • Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and control system components
  • Ability to read and interpret control schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency in using multimeters, calibrators, and diagnostic tools
  • Understanding of safety standards including OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
