Partnership for Children of Cumberland County is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data & Eligibility Specialist to support the NC Pre-K program. This position plays an important role in helping families access NC Pre-K services by reviewing applications, verifying eligibility, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring program data is complete, timely, and reliable.

In this role, the Data & Eligibility Specialist will review NC Pre-K applications and supporting documents, communicate with families about missing information or application status, maintain applicant and participant records, prepare routine reports, and support enrollment-related processes. The position also provides guidance to staff, providers, and community partners about eligibility procedures and application requirements.

The successful candidate will have strong customer service skills, sound judgment, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume work during peak enrollment periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review NC Pre-K applications and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with eligibility requirements.
  • Conduct eligibility verification and secondary review processes to ensure determinations are well documented and consistent with policy.
  • Enter, update, and maintain applicant and participant data in NC Pre-K and related systems while protecting confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Communicate with families to obtain missing information, clarify documentation, explain application status, and support timely completion of the enrollment process.
  • Maintain organized digital and program records related to applicant eligibility, enrollment documentation, and supporting forms.
  • Prepare and monitor routine reports related to applications, eligibility status, enrollment activity, and child data.
  • Assist with attendance processing and related administrative support functions during peak periods or as assigned.
  • Support referral intake and connect families to internal and community resources when needs are identified.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and distribution of forms, procedures, and informational materials related to eligibility and data processes.
  • Provide process guidance to staff, providers, and community partners related to eligibility procedures and application requirements.
  • Participate in outreach events, information sessions, and public-facing activities that promote access to NC Pre-K services.
Requirements:

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in eligibility processing, data management, intake coordination, case documentation, administrative support, or related work required.
  • Experience working with family applications, benefits or eligibility review, education enrollment, or other documentation-heavy service environments preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to review records against established requirements.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain requirements clearly and follow up effectively with families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems; ability to learn and navigate multiple databases and online platforms.
  • Efficient and accurate typing proficiency.
  • Ability manage high-volume work, maintain organized records, and meet deadlines during peak enrollment periods.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are beneficial.
