As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Commercial Kitchen & Refrigeration Service Technician who shares our passion for the maintenance industry and is eager to grow with us.
Role and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial cooking equipment including fryers, ovens, grills, ranges, steamers, warmers, holding cabinets, and related foodservice equipment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems and equipment including walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-in coolers, prep tables, ice machines, compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, refrigerant circuits, and associated components
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and gas-fired components of commercial kitchen equipment within the scope of training, certifications, and applicable regulations
- Perform refrigeration system repairs including leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, brazing, component replacement, and system startup in accordance with EPA regulations and industry best practices
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC and rooftop equipment including air conditioning systems, heating systems, condensers, evaporator coils, fan motors, blower assemblies, controls, thermostats, refrigerant circuits, electrical components, and associated mechanical systems to support restaurant operations
- Respond to emergency service calls and equipment failures to minimize operational downtime
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment and facility systems
- Inspect, clean, adjust, lubricate, and replace equipment components to maximize reliability, performance, and equipment lifespan
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and operational performance evaluations
- Develop and maintain equipment parts lists, recommended spare parts inventories, and replacement component schedules
- Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repairs, refurbishments, upgrades, or replacement based on lifecycle analysis and operational needs
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, and service providers regarding repairs, warranty claims, technical support, replacement parts, and equipment specifications
- Assist with equipment installations, startup, commissioning, and restaurant remodel projects as needed
- Train maintenance personnel and other team members on equipment repair, preventative maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices
- Serve as a technical resource for restaurant operators and maintenance staff
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, preventative maintenance activities, repair documentation, and equipment records
- Utilize email, CMMS software, and other company communication platforms to communicate maintenance updates, coordinate repairs, and collaborate with team members, vendors, and restaurant management
- Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements, while maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe condition
- Safely operate company vehicles and travel between restaurant locations as required
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of experience repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial cooking equipment, refrigeration systems, and other foodservice equipment
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and gas-fired equipment systems
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to successfully pass an abstract driving record check
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, brazing, and refrigeration system repairs
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience using email, mobile devices, CMMS software, and software applications
- Ability to read and understand instructions in English
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, and diagnostic equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- CFESA Certification
- Technical or vocational training in commercial appliance repair, HVAC/R, electrical systems, or related field
- Experience working in restaurant, foodservice, or multi-unit commercial environments
- Experience using a CMMS and mobile work order applications
- OSHA safety training or related certifications
- Experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel

Requirements:Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in restaurant kitchens, mechanical rooms, rooftops, exterior locations, and other commercial environments
- Frequent exposure to heat, grease, cleaning chemicals, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, gas systems, and mechanical equipment
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Must be comfortable working on ladders and elevated surfaces
- Must be able to safely access and work on rooftops when required
- Requires operation of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, refrigeration gauges, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, and maintenance equipment
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and respond to emergency equipment failures as needed
- Travel between multiple restaurant locations is required
