Landscape Designer in Portland, Maine at Acorn Engineering Inc

Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying and construction administration firm, is currently seeking a Landscape Designer to join our growing landscape studio. This position is associated with our Portland, Maine office, located at the edge of the Old Port. The role offers designers a unique opportunity to guide development projects across Maine. Project work includes parks, trails, master planning, affordable housing, residential and commercial site planning and urban infill, streetscape design, shoreline stabilization, nature-based design solutions, and community engagement opportunities.

The position includes working with landscape, civil and survey teams, preparing graphic and presentation materials, drafting and plan set development, permit application assembly, site analysis, research, and design. This position would report to the Landscape Architecture Project Manager.

• Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution
• 0-3 years of experience
• Proficiency in AutoCad, 3-D modeling software, Bluebeam, Adobe CS3 suite, and Microsoft office software
• Experience with Rhino, Sketch-up and Lumion a plus
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and interest in collaborative design
• Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills to balance multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated
• Valid driver’s license required
