Our Renewable Energy Services team provides Technical Due Diligence, Construction Management, Owner’s Engineer, Insurance and Offtake advisory Lenders’ Technical Advisor, M&A Due Diligence, and Owner’s Advisory services across wind, solar, and energy storage projects worldwide. We compete with Tier 1 technical advisors by combining senior-led, hands-on attention that delivers the technical rigour, commercial clarity, and pragmatic, finance and delivery-focused insights needed for renewable energy projects to succeed. .
We are seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Technical Advisor to support and lead technical due diligence assignments for lenders, investors, and owners across wind, solar, and energy storage projects, as well as support other services within the department.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Solar or BESSproject development ortechnicaladvisory experience
- Project management experience, ideally for technical due diligence mandates
- Independent energy yield analysis (solar and/or wind)
- Electrical systems and grid interconnection reviews
What You Get to Learn and Do
- Deliver high-quality technical due diligence acrossdesign and contractualscopesrequiredfor financing and transactions.
- Review electrical and grid interconnection designs, including single-line diagrams, compliance, and interconnection studies.
- Lead and/or support independent solar (PVSyst) and/or Wind Energy EYA tools, including data screening, loss factoranalysisand probabilistic scenarios (P50/P90).
- Translate technical findings into financial model inputs and commercial implications for lenders and investors.
- Prepare clear, concise, lender-ready sections and report under sometimes compressed timelines.
- Collaborate with wider infrastructure advisory colleagues on permitting, contracts, and schedule reviews.
- Support technical reviews of major equipment (wind turbines, PV modules, inverters, etc.).
- Contribute to technical assessments of key project contracts (TSA, EPC, O&M).
What You'll Bring
- 3-7 years' experience in technical due diligence, Independent Engineer work or developer/owner-side technical roles.
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineer (other engineer or physics disciplines considered)
- Strong communication skills - able to distill technical findings into clear financial insights
- Exposure to project coordination or technical leadership within due diligence or development contexts
- Understanding of grid interconnection studies, electrical design, and compliance
- Strength in either energy yield analysis with willingness to grow in this area as needed
- Familiarity with PVSyst (solar) and/or Wind Energy EYA tools
- Experience advising on utility scale Solar or BESS assets
- Ability to work in a team environment and ability to work to own initiatives.
- Demonstrates attention to detail to produce quality work with good time management.
- Hold a valid drivers license.
- Eligible to work in Canada or pursuing a work permit.

The typical hiring range for this role is $100,000-$125,000 CAD per year. This represents base salary only, not total compensation, and BTY Group may offer more or less depending on a candidate's experience and qualifications. Compensation takes into account education, training, experience, location, market factors, and internal alignment. In line with BC & Ontario Pay Transparency rules, a candidate's past salary will not be considered in determining pay.
